The Social Media Editor/Community Manager for Travel + Leisure is tasked with serving and continuing to grow the brandís social media fan community. Principal responsibilities include regularly posting content and engaging fans across all of T+Lís social media channels, and developing and maintaining strategic relationships with external influencers in the travel industry.

The role demands a social media power user who is passionate about keeping up to date on industry trends and developments and will be comfortable thinking creatively and strategically. Strong writing and communication skills are crucial.

This is an integrated role that interfaces regularly with several teams: editorial, ad sales, creative services, legal, marketing, and consumer marketing. The position reports to the Director of Editorial Product Development, with a dotted line to the Executive Digital Editor. This role also works closely with AEP's Manager, Social Media Marketing and Digital Communications.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Daily updates on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram. Regular updates to Foursquare, Foodspotting, Gogobot, and other social media platforms as they arise.
- Organize regular chats and other events on Twitter and Facebook.
- Help coordinate brand events, including the annual Social Media in Travel and Tourism Awards.
- Attend conferences and represent T+L at social media industry events.
- Contribute social media and technology-related content to print edition and travelandleisure.com.
- Assist in soliciting and encouraging user-generated content from social network and online media.
- Ensure that travelandleisure.com is optimized for social sharing.
- Run regular meetings to present analytics and update stakeholders on social media initiatives.

The ideal candidate for the Social Media Editor/Community Manager is an inquisitive, energetic, hard-working social media savant with a passion for travel and the editorial talent to shape the voice of the brand in emerging media. The role requires strong organizational skills, dedication, and a proactive, teamwork-oriented temperament. The goal is to take our current success to the next level. For that reason, strong writing skills are paramount, and 2+ years of experience, preferably in an editorial environment, is a prerequisite.

Job Requirements:
- Demonstrates strong editorial judgment and exceptional writing ability. The social media community manager must be able to craft short, compelling copy in an authentic voice that resonates with our target audience, and drives engagement, link-sharing and click-throughs.
- Strong-to-expert knowledge of social media platforms, especially Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Foursquare, Instagram, and Pinterest; a thorough understanding of different community behaviors and passion points across these platforms.
- Ability to appropriately adjust writing tone for different fan communities, and to continually think of new and fresh ways to engage them.
- Evangelize for social media among T+L staff and executives, encouraging editors to engage with the community and participate in social media campaigns, and educating colleagues on the latest social media trends.
- Strong interest and experience in travel.
- Monitor and respond to comments in the TravelandLeisure.com community; suggest creative ways to engage members and grow the audience.
- Ability to understand, analyze, and make recommendations from key metrics and engagement reports.
