Job Requirements Portable (www.portable.tv) is looking for an Editorial Assistant to join our team in our New York office. You will work directly alongside the platform’s Managing Editor to conceptualize, create, commission and organize editorial content on a daily basis. In a fast paced online publishing environment you will help in the growth of audience and traffic through day-to-day management of social media channels and optimization of content.

Key Requirements

You:


  1. Have graduated from college with experience that demonstrates why you suit the role;

  2. Must have excellent copy editing skills and a strong knowledge of grammar (we'll test you on this);

  3. Must have an eye for detail;

  4. Must have great writing skills and a strong, smart voice as demonstrated in published work;

  5. Must be passionate about culture and have an encyclopedic knowledge of film, music and fashion, and you must be consistently up-to-date with news in all these fields;

  6. Are adept with social media including Twitter, Tumblr and Pinterest;

  7. Should have a basic working knowledge of Google Analytics and SEO;

  8. Are able to demonstrate clearly that you are a self-starter who is able to think practically and quickly;

  9. Have a high level of emotional intelligence.


Job Duties

  • Conceptualizing and researching content;

  • Feature article development and writing;

  • Commissioning and co-ordination of articles and photography;

  • Copy editing;

  • Analysis and reporting of audience data;

  • SEO.


    • This is a full time, entry level position, based the company's new offices in Dumbo, New York.
