JOB SUMMARY:
Produces editorial content for use in magazines, and digital and extension projects. Participates in determining editorial direction of assigned brands and projects. Participates in planning process for magazines, and digital and extension projects. As needed, oversees assigned projects from concept to completion. Supervises and/or mentors the work of more junior editors on certain projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Writes and edits copy for assigned brands and editorial projects. Edits feature stories and departments for each issue. Capable of writing and editing copy so that it is consistent in quality and reflects the brand’s or product’s voice.
• Takes on lead roles in the planning, writing and editing for brand extension projects and other editorial projects as assigned. Delivers on goals and deadlines outlined for each project.
• Coordinates Web updates, leads e-newsletter production and other digital projects. Keeps abreast of digital trends and possesses skills to work effectively within digital platform.
• Collaborates with brand editor to plan magazine, digital and other content based on brand’s editorial direction.
• Works closely with internal staff involved in the publication process, including Art, Content Team, Copy Desk, Photo Studio and Premedia personnel. Communicates with these co-workers to meet deadlines and deliver quality product.
• Reviews and evaluates reader mail and photographs for publication potential. Responds to reader queries, complaints and compliments as needed.
• Edits and makes needed copy changes on page layouts. Collaborates with editor to offer feedback on page design.
• Offers suggestions for new content or products based on knowledge of audience and current trends.
• Assigns, manages and negotiates work assignments both within department and with outside freelancers, as needed.
• Supports brand and business goals.
• Other duties as assigned.




QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or related field.
• A minimum of 4-5 years professional publishing experience.
• Proven publication experience in creating products from start to finish, in print and digital.
• Strong writing and editing skills. Demonstrated ability to create content and products that appeal to the target audience. Background in writing about and/or editing food content preferred.
• Experience producing digital content and working with platforms that implement content online.
• Excellent communication skills including the ability to work well with all staff levels and customers/consumers.
• Ability to organize and plan work. Ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong computer and technology skills, and the ability to learn new software programs.
