||The primary purpose of the Managing Editor position is to contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality content for the journal Pharmacy Times. The main focus is to write, edit, traffic, and develop content for Pharmacy Times, our Web site, www.PharmacyTimes.com, and other related publications, both in print and online. This position, as does the Pharmacy Times team, supports all publications and media in the MJH & Associates group of companies.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Develop and continually update editorial schedules for all Pharmacy Times issues and supplements.
Shepherd all editorial components of each publication through the monthly editing and production cycle, ensuring that all deadlines are met.
Manage editorial author submissions and deadlines with Editorial Director.
Coordinate SAP letters for each issue.
Coordinate RESPy-Walmart program and write RESPy features.
Work with editorial team and production department to determine best possible layouts and editorial hooks.
Develop and update house editing style.
Assign editorial tasks to other staff members and track their progress.
Write Web Exclusive articles and custom web sections as assigned.
Contribute editorial ideas in team meeting.
Coordinate CE review process in cooperation with Editorial Director and Pharmacy Times CE Office; work with Editorial Director to assign and traffic CE articles.
Format and traffic editorial copy through art, proofing and production.
Keep master files of inventory, current issue content, and supplied art.
Edit and proof articles, departments, references, and tables for print and online in PT style and AMA style; edit and proofread galleys.
Interface with authors for article follow-up and coordinate billing for authors.
Prepare TOC copy, Product Hotline/Advertiser Index, Announcement Ads.
Coordinate posting issue content online.
Research/write Rx Product News and Disease State Management Watches.
Research and writes feature for Careers, OTCGuide, and Generic supplements.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Education - A bachelors degree from a four-year college or university, and 2 years editorial experience and/or training. Minimal industry knowledge required.
Language Skills - Must possess excellent written skills and be able to communicate with, and speak effectively to, individuals.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to take direction and multi-task.
Required Skills - Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
