Job Requirements NYU Press seeks an impeccably organized and high-energy professional to assist the marketing department with many aspects of their work, including exhibits, awards submissions, clerical support, publicity, and other sales and marketing activities. This position reports to the Sales and Marketing Manager of NYU Press. A crucial member of the NYU Press marketing department, the Marketing Assistant facilitates our book exhibits program, including organizing small and cooperative exhibits and tracking the accompanying budget line, sending books, supporting and display materials to appropriate deadlines, and responding to general queries in this area.

The Marketing Assistant also assists with the management of our book awards submission program, including maintaining our awards database, and arranging for submission of titles and supporting materials to relevant organizations by specified deadlines. Working with our Publicist and Emarketing Specialist, the Marketing Assistant will also help with our online publicity outreach and working to maximize the online presence for our books. They will also coordinate review lists for our monograph publishing program. As part of supporting the work of all department members, including the Sales and Marketing Manager, Assistant Marketing Manager, Publicist, and Emarketing Specialist, the Marketing Assistant will also coordinate the work of student interns, produce seasonal mailings to authors, generate supporting materials for sales reps and foreign agents, execute follow-up to our textbook campaigns and assist with the management of our title database.

The Marketing Assistant will also participate in many press-wide meetings and committees, including exhibit planning meetings, our filemaker committee, and general staff meetings.

Qualifications: High School Diploma and 2 years of office experience essential, Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of publishing experience preferred. Strong organizational, writing and proofreading skills are essential. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (word processing, spreadsheets, database) and familiarity with Filemaker, InDesign and/or Quark highly desirable.
