Job Requirements MPA’s Digital Producer/Social Media Writer & Editor executes all aspects of the organization’s web and social media presence, interacting with departments across the organization, while serving as the advocate for a positive user experience. As a critical member of the MPA Communications team, this individual leverages digital technology and myriad platforms to advance the messages of the magazine industry – celebrating its value and promoting its business strengths. This position will establish a digital voice and create content for the association to be cascaded via its assets including magazine.org, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest. He/She is responsible for all website and web project development, from conception to implementation, as well as coordination with vendors for maintenance and complex updates to web systems. The position provides staff with training and documentation for the web content management system, and acts as project manager for any web development needs, assisting staff in the creation of email marketing materials for the promotion of events and other MPA activities.

Primary Tasks Break-out:

Maintain social media platforms for MPA
• Develop social media voice, create content
• Search recent tweets and websites for industry news
• Post tweets throughout the day on relevant industry news, MPA events, and member press coverage

Coordinate, collate, manage and update day to day web content for company website(s), manage site changes, maintenance and assist with problem resolution –
• Drupal CMS, IMIS & SquareSpace

Adding carousel slides to website
• Gather copy and graphics from other staff
• Edit image and design final graphic in Photoshop
• Use Drupal CMS to add carousel and set slide order for homepage

Adding content to the website
• Use Drupal CMS to approve staff submissions, train staff as needed on Drupal process
• If complex edits are required, edit the HTML manually

Adding new pages/web components to website
• Use administrative areas of Drupal CMS to make updates

Email Marketing
• Gather image assets, logos, and copy
• Edit images in Photoshop when applicable
• Create/modify email template in Dreamweaver using HTML
• Send tests and modify formatting/text as required using Informz
• Gather all assets for daily roundup newsletter once a week

Act as the primary liaison with internal stakeholders to ensure that updates and changes to the web site(s) are made correctly, and on a timely basis
• Schedule workflow and production tasks for optimum efficiency
• Status reporting for all open tasks and escalate key issues to management
• Communicate workflow to other members of the company so expectations can be managed internally and externally
• Manage relationships with key stakeholders to gather requirements and implement changes based on their needs

Review web analytics when requested by staff
• Use Google Analytics reporting tools to access relevant statistics/traffic for our website

Prerequisite Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Relevant tertiary education in Design or Digital Media preferable
• 2 years or more experience in an online environment including web development/design, content management and digital production
• Knowledge and experience in web standards, SEO and accessibility
• High proficiency in HTML and CSS. Knowledge of JavaScript helpful
• Experience with content management systems
• Understanding of online industry and best practices
• Experience with Photoshop, HTML editing tools and Flash preferable
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize accordingly
• Strong writing skills
• Excellent requirements gathering and documentation skills
