Job Requirements The Communications & Community Manager is responsible for outreach and coordination to raise awareness within Duke entrepreneurship community of available resources & events. The I&E community includes faculty, alumni, and industry.

Responsibilities may include:

Create & execute editorial calendars on an ongoing basis
• Take into account existing campus activities & plan monthly editorial calendar for content (identify themes & areas of focus to govern planned content for each quarter)
• Write planned content for advance approval
• Plan and execute reactive engagement on an ongoing basis

Write snappy, engaging content
• Web content
• Newsletters
• Press releases

Post, moderate & monitor engagement on Facebook, Twitter, & LinkedIn daily and identify opportunities for deeper interaction
• Post messaging responding to social media comments
• Delete inappropriate content/moderate pages & prioritize information shared
• Gather & reporting weekly insights on fan interaction
• Develop & execute engaging content that students, faculty and alums respond to

Ongoing influencer engagement & outreach
• Find & engage Duke influencers
• Plan influencer collaborations

Presentation support – expert knowledge of Powerpoint, Photoshop or InDesign is helpful
Event Planning – ability to oversee vendors and plan campus-wide events

Qualifications
• Some agency or media work experience required – public relations, digital media, advertising, journalism
• Previous experience (3-5 years) in communications, outreach, or community building
• Well-versed in social media space (social networks, content sharing sites, apps, mobile, etc.) and how content is shared and consumed
• Self-motivated, organized and can work independently
• Creativity to challenge the status quo and polish to facilitate collaboration among diverse groups
• Strong writer with personality, knowledge of pop culture & how to engage teens/twenty-somethings
