Job Requirements Primary Responsibilities:

The Member Communications Specialist's primary work is to design and produce newsletters, leaflets and other materials that will be distributed at the worksite or through the mail as well as creating content for email, website and social media platforms.
The individual in this position will design and conduct training for field and administrative staff in design skills and principles and work collaboratively with members, organizers and the union's leadership team to design communications strategies that will engage and mobilize our members.
The member communications specialist will also provide lead communications for the Nurse Alliance of Pennsylvania, an affiliate of SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, which provides a forum and legislative vehicle to unite nurses across Pennsylvania in the advancement of quality care.

Additional Responsibilities:

As needed, the Member Communications Specialist will work with union staff throughout the state to provide strategic campaign communications support and leadership on contract, political and legislative campaigns as well as key union activities and events which could include the following duties:

Writing press releases and conducting media outreach to promote organizational activities;

Writing and designing brochures, flyers, and other organizational materials as needed;

Consults with team leaders and organizers to develop effective core messaging for campaigns;

Plans and coordinates media events including training and preparing workers to be effective spokespersons.

Generates earned media including articles, op-eds, and letters to the editor.

- Excellent design skills and a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Familiarity with digital photography, web communications and pre-print production.
- Strong ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- A driver's license and fully-insured car.
- An ability to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
