Job Requirements The following are functions that are expected of any medical editor working at Tricore:

1) Basic Medical Editing Functions

• Edit course content to improve the learner experience.
• Reference check material; work knowledgeably with Reference Manager.
• Edit eLearning courses and medical education programs ensuring the adherence to guidelines and standards such as: style, layout, design and grammar.
• Schedule and track external editorial tasks including downloading/uploading material from/to the ftp site and assigning as needed.
• Understand and enforce clients' guidelines.
• Maintain, update and have a thorough familiarity with the internal style guide.
• Edit for correct grammar and style consistency.
• Edit for comprehensibility and meaning.
• Improve internal processes; train colleagues.
• Willingness to learn unfamiliar software and edit in a paperless environment
• Identify and address red flags in scheduled requests re: scope, turnaround, capacity.

2) Internal Customers

• Work with subject matter experts as necessary.
• Communicate with internal customers to understand their task requirements.
• Ask appropriate questions and be proactive in requesting clarification on any request.
• Exercise and communicate good judgment when assessing the level of editing a project requires at any given stage of production.
• Work closely with project management to ensure delivery of the content on time and within the specified parameters.
• Take initiative to clarify issues.
• Ensure that all delivery deadlines are met, and effectively manage expectations.
• Provide feedback to external editors.
• Manage expectations effectively.


The following qualifications are important to the success of a medical editor at Tricore:

• Bachelor's degree in English, education or a related field preferred
• Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to successfully manage multiple tasks
• Exceptional analytic and conflict resolution skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
• Solid copy edit skills required
• Thorough knowledge of English grammar and usage
• A "do whatever it takes" work ethic
• Pharma experience a big plus
• Familiarity with AMA style (an advantage)
• Science background a plus
