Job Requirements Over the years, Avenue has been successful through word-of-mouth and referrals. With new growth goals in place, we are looking for a Director New Business and Marketing to formalize and manage a more systematic business development process.

This person is responsible for meeting the agency’s sales goals through the development and execution of a systematic business development process. This is not a position of persuasion or hard “selling.” This role at Avenue is about identifying the limited number of companies who would benefit immensely from our services (we’re not for everyone but for those who need us we are lifesavers), finding the fit between those prospects’ needs and Avenue’s capabilities (which in many cases will involve challenging their assumptions), and then facilitating the proper steps to convert those interested parties into clients.

Specific responsibilities for this position include:

Planning and reporting: Work with agency principals to build a business development plan based on company goals. Conduct systematic tracking and reporting of activities and progress against goals, delivered via weekly meeting with principals and senior leadership, including current sales vs goal report, conversion report (i.e. this lead became an opportunity; this target became a lead, etc.), web analytics report, new and working leads report (i.e. “Here are the leads that came in last week and here are the leads I intend to pursue next week”), opportunity report (covers status and next steps for all live opportunities) and business development plan progress report and assignments.

Management: Oversee execution of Business Development Plan (this may include identifying speaking opportunities for Bob, managing the creation of content/ thought leadership internally, driving website updates and the creation of case studies or marketing materials, etc.). Ensure CRM is continually kept up to date.

Pipeline generation and nurturing: Identify target companies and contacts through research, internet sleuthing, networking, and list procurement and any other means deemed effective. Qualify prospects according to agency’s desired client mix. Keep firm’s pipeline full through ongoing, regularly scheduled lead generation activities. Nurture early stage opportunities with courteous and timely communications. Schedule and lead introductory meetings and sales presentations. Prepare presentation decks and proposals.

Late-stage opportunity management: Coordinate and drive the MSA approval process. Coordinate and drive final signatures.
