Job Requirements The Assistant Director, Marketing & Communications oversees assigned University of Chicago Medicine & Biological Sciences Development (MBSD) communications. S/he is responsible for duties including generating, editing, and contributing to Medicine & Biological Sciences Development communications; Medical and Biological Sciences Association Reunion materials production and distribution; responding to general inquiries; and general project management. S/he adds value to the work of the MBSD Marketing and Communications team by taking ownership of responsibilities; adding creativity to current MBSD programs and communications; generating contemporary, new ideas; and producing high quality work using excellent grammar and writing skills. The Assistant Director reports to the Director of Development Marketing and Communications and closely collaborates with other writers, graphic designers, members of the Alumni Relations team, and others throughout MBSD and the University in fulfilling responsibilities that advance the communications and marketing mission of the organization. S/he works with MBSD's Outreach, Events, & Protocol team to prepare and execute communication plans in support of Reunion and other alumni/volunteer programs of the MBSAA. In partnership with the Director, collaborates with MBSD's Development Marketing and Communications team, as well as other departments to develop and execute an annual communications plan with the purpose of informing and engaging alumni of the Pritzker School of Medicine and key constituents of MBSD. The Assistant Director develops & maintains a comprehensive social media strategy and presence that defines how social marketing techniques will be applied to increase visibility and traffic across brands.

Education
Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, English or a related field required.

Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant work experience is required.
Experience developing and implementing social media programs is preferred.
