Job Requirements Direct Brands is looking for creative, ambitious, and versatile Product Managers to join our team. For nearly a century, Book-of-the-Month, Columbia House, Doubleday, and our 21 enthusiast clubs have represented the largest media club businesses in the U.S. Nearly every book, movie, and music fan can remember getting "10 CDs for a penny" or "4 books for a dollar" at some point in their lives. Today, we are hard at work building an innovative media business positioned at the intersection of ecommerce, content, and online communities. As part of this effort, our Product Managers will help lead the re-design and development of our consumer web experience for a subset of our clubs (popular books, home & lifestyles, science fiction, history/military, etc.), as well as own feature and promotion development across all channels (site, email, social, etc). The Product Manager will be given the autonomy required to make strategic, data driven decisions which will improve our customer experience and grow the business. We are looking for entrepreneurial self-starters who are interested in the intersection of content, commerce and technology, and want to see their work meaningfully impact a business undergoing rapid transformation.

You Should Be Prepared to...

  • Use market trends, customer data, and your gut to decide how features, content, promotions, and products should be allocated across all customer facing real estate -- site, email, social, and print, delivering a top-tier user experience capable of attracting new members, optimizing conversion events and creating strong customer loyalty to your clubs.

  • Own all product vision & strategy (features, marketing, etc.) from conceptualization to implementation.

  • Develop and define requirements and establish milestones, roadmaps and objectives.
    Become the audience expert for your clubs, understanding who your members are and why they choose to buy.

  • Develop the strategy and manage the multi-channel marketing programs that drive demand for your products, including campaigns, promotions, sweepstakes and other programs designed to drive adoption and engagement.

  • Design and implement campaigns and features that work in both traditional and social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, Blogs, etc.).

  • Work with editorial and creative teams to design a strategy for producing and distributing proprietary content in digital and physical channels.

  • Identify relevant KPIs for all products, campaigns, and features, and define data required track and monitor performance.

  • Conceptualize and execute relevant user and split testing and incorporate learnings into future product development roadmap.


  • Bachelorís degree with 4+ years product experience at a eCommerce or digital media business

  • Exceptional analytical skills and a strong understanding of MS Excel.

  • Experience with website and content management systems (preferably Magento), web analytics tools (Omniture, Google Analytics, KissMetrics), and email management tools is a major plus

  • Uncanny UI/UX instincts

  • You are excited about product ownership and the accountability which comes with it.

  • You have amazing project management skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task, set priorities and deliver within condensed timeframes.

  • You quickly grasp complex technical concepts and can communicate them clearly to others.

  • You are can move quickly between tactical execution tasks and a strategic problem solving tasks.

  • You are mindful of emerging technologies and communities

  • You love to read and have an innate interest in and strong understanding of at least one of our core genres: popular fiction, mystery, romance, science fiction, cooking, crafting, home decor, history, military, christian, children's, spirituality/wellness
