Job Requirements The Associate News Editor is responsible for ensuring the veracity, quality and adherence to copy and edit standards for news content produced by digital reporters and editors. The Associate News Editor will report to the Managing Editor, Daily Beats. The position will be based in Miami, FL.

ABC News and Univision News are forming a far-reaching, multiplatform joint venture designed to inform, empower and inspire Hispanic Americans in English while providing all audiences with uncompromising coverage of current events with a unique perspective. The landmark venture capitalizes on Univision's expertise in reaching U.S. Hispanics and ABC's global news leadership to serve over 50 million Hispanics, the youngest and fastest growing demographic in the U.S.

The new 24/7 network includes America's first English-language channel for acculturated Latinos and their Millennial peers, as well as integrated digital and social platforms. Now for the first time, audiences will have a choice for uncompromising coverage of current events, culture and lifestyle news that reflects the diversity of contemporary society, including Latino perspectives in English. The network will be headquartered in Miami, Florida.

Can you edit a story so it's not only better, but so the writer feels like he or she has learned something from you in the process? That's the kind of person we want for our associate news editor position, a key role in our digital organization.

If so, we also want you to be enthusiastic, innovative and social-media savvy because, as our associate news editor, you're responsible for reviewing, editing, and working with digital reporters to make sure their work meets the highest journalistic standards on a daily basis. You will also help develop, execute, implement and measure the effectiveness of editorial content across the site and, at times, on social platforms. Most importantly, you will be a natural leader who wants to build something special with a group of very passionate people who know we're creating something valuable (and having an awesome time doing it).

Desired Skills and Experience:

-You must be an organized self-starter with proven experience guiding, editing, and publishing on a digital platform across news, entertainment and lifestyle.
-You're a strategic thinker with assured judgment and decision making, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-You have an absolute passion for the promise of journalism in the digital age, as well as a deep understanding of technologies and trends shaping digital media's future.
-You have a track record for developing audiences across various platforms.


- Ability to wear many hats. We're basically a startup.
- 4-year Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum of three years experience in editing news journalism for digital media, including content published in mobile environments
- Able to use and manipulate analytics tools (e.g., Omniture, Comscore, Nielsen, Akamai, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Twitter Counter, etc.) and behavioral research to drive greater understanding of content engagement
- Experience with digital content management systems
- Can balance priorities, multiple projects, and tasks
- Creative, dynamic idea-generator who can pitch unique concepts for the benefit of a multiplatform, news media enterprise
- Bilingual (Spanish-English) a plus

About Our Company Univision and ABC/Disney have partnered to create Fusion — the first ever multi-platform media brand directly aimed at English-Speaking Hispanics.
