Job Requirements Summit Business Media is seeking a Managing Editor for Credit Union Times who will be responsible for coordinating editorial, art and production departments in turning out each issue of the weekly, print magazine in acceptable form and on time. Supervises copy-editing and proofreading to ensure that the magazine is factually and grammatically correct.


Manage workflow of all material in the magazine to the art director, editing features, working on graphics with authors and the art director, doing additional research when necessary
Acquiring and qualifying articles from outside contributors
Research, report and write articles, review column and assorted stories
Planning upcoming issues, editorial calendar and special issues
Following industry trends, talking with sources
Responsible for managing the editorial freelance budget
Run day-to-day magazine operation
Respond to reader questions; direct pitches to other editors
Back up for web editor


At least four years of experience in magazine/journalism writing on deadline, plus two years in a managing editor role, preferred
Strong critical thinking, editing and proofreading skills for both print and online content
Thorough knowledge of English grammar and usage, AP style experience preferred
Strong organization, time-management, decision-making, attention to detail and interpersonal skills necessary
Excellent communication and team-building skills
Understand deadlines and motivate people to meet them
Knowledge Office required and InCopy desired, but not required
