Your tasks
The Senior Sales Manager is primarily responsible for Springer Healthcare book content and driving new business opportunities and sales for this product line. The Senior Sales Manager gives commercial and strategic input and support with such products and programs as required by sales teams. Specific responsibilities include:


1. Business development

a. Identify, develop, and manage new sales clients via attendance at major medical conferences, prospecting phone calls, and names gathered through own research initiatives
b. Build relationships with pharmaceutical contacts through meetings. Identify marketing/educational needs and strategies and develop solutions based upon the SH portfolio of book content
c. Interact with client based BDMs to manage and increase sales of book content
d. Design and recommend new sales initiatives to widen customer base as well as develop new product ideas based on industry needs.
e. Review appropriate page proofs of upcoming books/journals to identify leads for potential sales and follow-up with mailings, e-mails, faxes, etc.
f. Hold regular book updates for sales team, informing them of recent front list, titles, as well as titles and authors soon to be published
g. Liaise with other SH colleagues to promote SH products and services, participating in joint pitches where required
h. Contribute to all pitch opportunities where Springer book content is included and be the subject matter expert on Springer book content for the sales team
i. Ensure that authors are contacted for industry leads as well as potential sales
j. Primary point of contact with and manage third party agents that sell Springer book content
k. Ensure Pharmaceutical clients are aware of the full range of services offered by SH
l. Ensure all business closed is mutually beneficial for both clients and SH
m. Contribute to the profitability of SH by working to ensure all business closed is financial viable and SH?s profit margins are maintained

2. Business planning

a. Create, maintain and manage a front list of titles pertinent to the pharmaceutical/medical device industries using CHESS forms and interaction with editorial team
b. Work with management team to develop strategic plan for books and book content
c. Recommend/develop new products/services to increase sales as well as to meet changing needs of the healthcare industry
d. Provide quarterly business plans which identify
i. Pharmaceutical/Medical Device company targets
ii. Areas SH should be focusing on specifically i.e. by therapy or disease area
iii. Drugs or devices of particular interest for custom solutions projects
iv. Realistic and achievable deadlines
v. Upcoming conference and pitch attendance
e. Business development activity plans
i. Forecasting levels of new business
ii. Evaluating probability of new business
iii. Detailing new contacts and companies who may be interested in SH services
f. Develop a current product and pipeline analysis by therapeutic category
g. Create own marketing material in tandem with the marketing manager
h. Keep abreast of developments and attitudes in the worldwide healthcare environment at industry and government level. Develop sources of information, particularly through online and print literature review and contacts with relevant people
i. Communicate effectively with Springer colleagues

3. Any other duties as required by your manager

Our requirements
? Bachelor?s degree, candidates with a marketing degree preferred
? Minimum 5 years previous sales experience
? An understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the drug development process preferred within an agency or publishing environment preferred
? Proficiency with word, PowerPoint and other Microsoft packages
? Demonstrate high levels of motivation
? Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills
? Ability to work in a team environment
? Excellent spoken and written communication skills
? Ability to work to deadlines
