Job Requirements Job Description:

The New York Times is looking for an experienced online marketer to join our growing Games team! This newly created role will be responsible for the New York Times digital crosswords.

As part of the larger marketing organization, the position will work very closely with the crossword team product managers and marketing colleagues. Successful candidates will have a clear focus on customer acquisition, growing revenue, and driving key awareness and engagement metrics.

Responsibilities:

- Acquisition Marketing and Retention: Manage implementation of marketing to maximize subscriber growth and retention on a day-day basis.
- Strategic marketing: Develop strategies to create integrated marketing plans for new and live games, including marketing budget recommendations for new product launches.
- Brand management: Own & maintain the positioning, vision, & goals of the Games brands. Act as the voice of the brand with partner teams (ad sales, business development, PR, etc) and external organizations (agencies, licensing partners) to ensure programs are on strategy and a brand fit.
- Planning: Work closely with games team to provide detailed marketing forecasts on a regular basis. Manage marketing budget to successfully drive the business.
- Creative Thinking: Identify value proposition and key messages, write creative briefs to ensure we produce best in class creative which is consistent across all channels and resonates with consumers.
- Reporting: Analyze performance of all marketing programs (including ad spend) to identify the best opportunities for optimization, and regularly iterate to maximize performance. Track and report campaign ROI.

Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in online consumer marketing
- Direct Response Marketing experience in a B2C environment required.?
- Previous start-up, games and/or social media experience is preferred
- Deep understanding of NYT brand
- Solid understanding of online advertising platforms &related metrics
- A strong track record of success and results at previous companies
- Ability to do both strategic marketing and daily execution and optimization
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- High degree of initiative and results focus with strong attention to detail.
- Poise, maturity and interpersonal skills to deal professionally and collaborate across functions and internal stakeholders
