Job Requirements The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Editor to join its Publications Department. This position reports to the Editorial Director. Please see responsibilities, requirements, and application procedure below.

Edits and oversees production of Museum-related ephemera such as wall labels, brochures, educational materials, bulletins, etc. Edits other material related to Museum programs when necessary. Edits manuscripts and prepares ancillary texts (captions, cover copy, etc.) for production of other publication projects. Assists editors with larger projects and checks all stages of projects in accordance with schedule through finished project when necessary. Copy edits and proofreads. Assists in obtaining permissions on quotes or illustrative material when necessary. Performs any other duties, including administrative, related to those mentioned above.

Bachelorís degree, and three or more years experience in editing, copy editing, and proofreading for art publications. Strong editorial skills plus familiarity with production and design. Knowledge of foreign languages preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word for Mac, and other standard office procedures and equipment.
