Job Requirements Job Description:

The New York Times is searching for a talented and experienced Manager, Digital Optimization to join our rapidly expanding Marketing Operations team. This role will be responsible for managing the successful implementation of website optimization, AB and multivariate testing. She/he will manage the planning of optimization projects (in particular the AB test designs and analytical approach) and project manage our optimization testing initiatives. This position will interface with marketing, technology, analytics and production on a daily basis in order to achieve success.


- Drives the test requirements by working with key business stakeholders to identify outcomes, segments and test hypotheses
- Documents and transforms business requirements into technical requirements in order to produce end deliverables
- Obtains creative materials from internal parties; ensure all assets are accurately captured.
- Manages day-to-day activities and works with the Technical Lead and Analytics Lead to produce deliverables and meet project timelines
- Manages end-to-end process including QC; ensures ads display properly, the creative meets specs, click-through works properly, etc.
- Work with Optimization team to monitor, revise, and optimize test campaigns to ensure full delivery and achieve optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and communicate with internal teams on creative and operational campaign performance issues and provide suggestions on how to solve.
- Make recommendations for optimizing the process to deliver marketing optimization tests.
- Support online testing as an ongoing discipline to drive continuous improvement.
- Monitor performance of live experiments.


- 2 or more years' experience working in digital ad operations in a trafficking role or digital marketing operations (including web sites, paid and organic search, display media, email, or social media) ideally at a digital agency or internet marketing services firm
- Minimum of 1 year experience executing web optimization programs preferred
- Experience or familiarity with ad serving tools very helpful
- Understanding of web analytics
- Experience with WebTrends and WebTrends Optimize is preferred, but not required.
- Working knowledge of AB testing methodology and web technology (HTML, CSS, Javascript, URL structures, etc).
- 2 or more years of project management experience.
- 2 or more years of business analyst experience.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, work under firm deadlines and within a rapidly changing environment.
- Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently to recognize, trouble shoot, and solve problems. Critical thinking and common sense are essential to success in this role.
- Bachelor's degree.
