The digital production designer will be a true InDesign CS5.5 expert! Scholastic Classroom Magazines is developing an online non-fiction reading program for grades K through 8 and we are enlarging our team. This is an opportunity to work on a highly visual interactive educational product. The right person is capable of creating templates, maintaining consistent formats and styles and revising design to meet all technical specifications. He/she is an innovative multi-tasker, knowledgeable about technology trends, software, and tools and has a passion for learning and children's non fiction. S/he will be working in close collaboration with the Senior Interactive Art Director and designers and editorial teams. If you are fast, curious, excited by baby animals and history, and have an eye for detail there is room to design pages as well as prepare layouts for release.

Note: This position is a one year assignment with benefits

Qualifications:
• CS5.5: Expert in Adobe InDesign.
• 2-5 years experience in a similar position in educational products and designing for children and their teachers.
• Ability to prioritize workflow: communicate and coordinate between in house teams and outside vendors; working across departments to ensure the timely completion of layouts and delivery of all files. This includes posting content for publication and QA.
• Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Flash, with AS2 and AS3, CSS.
• Experience with HTML, XML, using a CMS a plus.

Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
