Job Requirements • Create initiatives designed to heighten brand awareness across both local and national channels.
• Oversee implementation of new practices and manage day-to-day dependencies with various stakeholders (content, analytics, design, technology).
• Leverage key trends in the digital media ecosystem to help us jump on evolving distribution opportunities.
• Optimize social media tactics, defining which networks and content niches offer the best opportunities for additional traffic growth.
• Boost e-mail marketing by finding opportunities for building lists and optimizing content for engagement.
• Build syndication and content distribution partnerships with other digital properties.
• Use SEO best practices to increase our traffic, and make sure that they are baked into our CMS and our processes. Test, measure, and learn to continuously improve our performance.
• Guide content creation on-site to capitalize on search and social traffic opportunities.
• Train producers, editors, and product managers to understand the mechanics of SEO so that they can build traffic more effectively.
• Implement tests and experiments to drive and engage traffic.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with the editorial and development teams to execute our traffic initiatives, and with the analytics team to define metrics and measure results.

Qualifications and skills

The successful candidate will have:

• 3+ years experience as a digital marketing manager growth hacker, or a similar role in product development.
• Background in driving and measuring traffic from social and other forms of inbound marketing, and an established social presence.
• Knowledge of the details of technical SEO, including experience with Moz, Conductor, Rio SEO and other SEO tools.
• Coding and the ability to hack together tests, including experience with Optimizely, Test & Target, or similar platforms a strong plus.
• Skill with web analytics (preferably Adobe SiteCatalyst and Adobe Audience Manager).
• Innate data-driven skills to identify unrealized opportunities for audience growth.
• Passion for news, digital media, and the future of content consumption.
• Experience at a high-growth digital commerce business is a plus.
• Creativity in developing new partnership and growth opportunities.
• Experience interfacing with development, design and editorial resources.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Boston Globe Media Partners (The Boston Globe, boston.com, bostonglobe.com) is seeking a high-energy Product Manager to drive traffic growth, audience engagement, and subscription conversion at Boston’s most influential websites.

We are looking for someone who will aggressively grow our daily audience and subscriber base through email, social media, SEO and innovative partnerships. With an analytics mind, a hacker spirit, and web traffic expertise, the Analytics Manager will use all available levers to maximize the BGMP user-base every day. This role requires someone who will take calculated risks to drive growth in national audience through creativity, data-driven insights, and optimization. In order to succeed, the Analytics Manager must be deeply immersed in the trends, tools, and platforms at the heart of pushing traffic across the web. This role will report to the Director of Marketing and Audience Growth.


• Own core elements of an aggressive expansion of the group’s digital marketing practice, with the aim of audience growth across BGMP’s diverse web platforms.
