Under the instruction and supervision of the Director of Digital Marketing, the Digital & Social Media Intern will provide the communications team with web, digital content, and social media support:

1. Assist with the management of social media content delivery:
• Research upcoming news and events related to Communities In Schools activities, executive staff, board members, donors, etc. as possible content for social media platforms.
• Work internally with other departments at the Communities In Schools National Office and across the Communities In Schools network to develop and distribute a monthly social media calendar. This includes setting up regular “editorial” meetings with cross-departmental staff, posting “calls for content” on Yammer (Communities In Schools’ internal communication tool), and reviewing various internal and external event calendars from which to pull information for social media sharing.
• Assist in finding opportunities to seed content across the social media landscape by identifying and communicating with partner organizations, funders, and other digital influencers with the goal of creating a strong database of advocates who will help spread our mission and build awareness.
• Work closely with the design intern and train in developing engaging infographics.
• Assess and report on weekly social media and website analytics.

2. Play a key support role in the design, development, and launch of a new Communities In Schools website:
• Assist with web content migration.
• Conduct surveys and participate in discovery meetings with digital and brand partners.
• Participate in weekly status meetings with external partners and internal staff.
• Write Change the Picture digital status updates and help create PowerPoint presentations for key stakeholders.

• Excellent written, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills. Demonstrate ability to pay close attention to detail, think proactively, and work under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience with social media platforms and understanding of website development including familiarity with content management systems (CMS).
• Basic technical skills; high proficiency using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Google Analytics is preferred.

• Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s program focusing on digital media and/or communications required.
• Previous intern or work experience in the field of education, nonprofits or digital media desired.
