Job Requirements College Marketing and Communications (formerly Office of Public Affairs) is responsible for overseeing communication with various constituencies – students, alumni, news media and the general public – via publicity, public relations, publications, web and digital communications, and other marketing efforts that uphold the image, integrity and mission of the College. College Marketing and Communications publishes Holy Cross Magazine, the quarterly alumni magazine, and major institutional publications; oversees the content and design of www.holycross.edu; manages media relations; and serves as a professional communications resource for students, faculty and the administration.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, the Director, Creative Services will advocate exceptional creative concepts, foster deep working relationships with publishers, vendors, and various internal teams and utilize these relationships to create highly engaging, multi-platform strategies in support of College priorities.

This position will develop a comprehensive understanding of the strategic challenges of the College’s branding standards and marketing messages. Ability to manage time lines, work flow, and resources efficiently is essential. Must be adept at re-prioritizing assignments on-the-fly based on evolving needs and deadlines. A strong understanding of the time required to move a project from concept to completion is essential. Organization and discipline toward the creative process is critical to this position. Projects must include creative briefs or strategy statements that are clearly written, pre-approved by key stakeholders and reviewed with the creative, marketing and communication teams before any work begins. Responsible for providing clear, strategic direction and empowering staff to use their creative skill set to arrive at the best solution. This position is the key liaison for interpreting the overall College Marketing Plan into appropriate creative solutions, with the support of the Marketing and Communication counterparts. Direct reports include writers, editors, graphic designers, and photographer/video producer.


•College/Art School Degree required, BFA preferred.
•At least 8 years of experience working in design field with supervisory experience, preferably in higher education
•Excellent interpersonal skills.
•Mac and PC platform skills, including proficiency in design software including the Adobe creative suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
•Project Management Expert for Creative Services electronic pre-press/press knowledge.
•Demonstrated commitment to diversity and to the College’s mission, vision and values.
•Experience working in higher education preferred
