Program Description
The new Shalom Sesame project is a multi-media educational initiative that uses Sesame Street Muppets and materials created for the Israeli co-production of Sesame Street (Rechov Sumsum) to address English-speaking communities living outside of Israel with original cross-platform content. The project consists of a video component, as well as the creation of a new interactive platform that will be designed for young children, families and educators. Centered around a new website, the Shalom Sesame digital content will relate to the video component as well as combine other technologies with original games, activities and other features and functionality.
Description of Position
Sesame Workshop is currently seeking a Digital Media Producer to oversee production for Shalom Sesames digital initiatives. This individual will be responsible for various areas of content production, from big picture contributions to proper executions of all elements. Being able to play well with others is a must youll be working cross-divisionally and internationally to plan, create and integrate content.
Position responsibilities include:
Facilitate and integrate all Shalom Sesame digital media activities, working closely with both U.S. and Israeli content and development teams
Ensure efficient, cost-effective, and timely production of all elements
Lead and manage production teams to meet daily deliverables deadlines
Write proposals, treatments, functional specs, production schedules, status reports
Participate in strategic thinking around Shalom Sesames multi-platform presence and offerings
Aggregate and distill input from all areas of the organization; develop the best approach for incorporating feedback into project executions
Facilitate aggressive timelines and proactively address bottlenecks
Producer will be based out of Sesame Workshops New York City office. This position is freelance, 21 hours/week for 14 months, beginning immediately.
Experience required
The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of digital media content production experience (with significant exposure to interactive media and/or non-profits). Strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written) are required. A background in Jewish education as well as facility with the Hebrew language are required. Technical understanding of web platforms (e.g.HTML, Flash, content management systems), video production, best practices, and industry developments round out the candidate requirements. An interest in childrens media and education are a plus. Salary is competitive.
