Position and Responsibilities
The Education Editor is someone who has a firm grasp on the state of education debate and innovation nationally, as well as with specific interest in (and contacts for) local/regional education angles. The ideal candidate can easily cover and lend a critical eye to national policy, international education news, as well as new developments in thought leadership in the field. Key responsibilities:
* Posting 5 10 new content pieces daily * Pulling in 3 5 new contributors each week * Preparing a weekly wrap-up of major discussion points throughout the week * Assisting in the conception and execution of a monthly education transparency * Developing an 8-part education video series (2 videos per quarter in 2010) * Assisting with the promotion and wrap-up of 4 events (1 per quarter in 2010) * Overseeing the development of two custom initiatives in 2010
Experience
* 3-5 years of editorial experience * Experience sourcing and managing contributors * Experience producing daily content for a website or newspaper * Experience with integrated media preferred * Experience in entrepreneurial, fast-paced environments
Skills and Abilities
* Strong communication skills * Strong writing and an ease working quickly * Familiarity with GOODs style and tone * Extremely well-organized and works efficiently * Ability to work independently and take initiative * Bright, energetic, collaborative, goal-driven personality
