Description: Scholastic, the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books and a leader in educational technology and children's media, is currently seeking a: Sr. Essbase Developer
This position will provide Hyperion Essbase support to Scholastic's Financial Reporting and Hyperion Planning Finance groups. This person will be self motivated, learn quickly, have good problem solving skills, able to work independently and possess the ability to present and defend their work. Excellent Excel and Hyperion Essbase skills are required. Specific responsibilities may include:
• Provide technical analysis and development support for the Hyperion Essbase and Planning environments. A detailed knowledge of ESSCMD, MaxL, data loading, calc scripting, process automating, error handling, and reconciling is required.
• Partner with the various stakeholders within IT and Finance and across Scholastic's business divisions to gather requirements, design application and integration solutions, execute project activities, resolve issues, and recommend changes.
• Evaluate and recommend solutions to improve existing systems processes and reporting through efficiencies and expanded process automations. Offer recommendations on the pros and cons of the full range of Hyperion (or other) tools.
• Demonstrate strong skills in Essbase tuning and configuration to optimize database and server performance.
• Identify and design input and reporting solutions designed to meet end-user needs for budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
• Assess and design automation and integration improvements to Scholastic's Essbase and Planning environments, including integration with ERP Financial systems(s), legacy source systems, and other enterprise data warehouse environments.
Requirements: We are seeking a candidate with following Requirements/Skills:
• 5 years experience as an Essbase Developer, with solid SQL, ESSCMD, MaxL, and scripting expertise
• Experience with Essbase automation and integration
• Strong experience with Essbase Analytic Integration Services and ASO cubes
• Extensive knowledge of Excel, Excel Add-in, and familiarity with the Essbase Visual Basic API's in Excel
• Experience developing reports using Web Analysis, Web Forms, and SmartView
• Demonstrated Essbase experience on various OS platforms a plus.
• A demonstrated understanding of relational database querying (Oracle, SQL, DB2 or Access) is critical.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Ability to work with multiple levels of business and IT management
• Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Finance, or equivalent experience is desired.
• Prior experience with companies within the media/publishing industry preferred. |
