Under the supervision of an account manager, the account executive will implement and execute proactive communication initiatives for health care-specific clients and campaigns, as well as provide general account support.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing B2C and B2B media campaigns, maintaining relationships with top tier health care, consumer and lifestyle press and online influencers, and thinking strategically and creatively on behalf of the agency’s health care clients.
Supports the development of overall client strategic plans and goals. Manages account work assigned to specific health care clients in collaboration with internal account teams. Provides professional support to account executives with media relations, event planning and other tactics as assigned.
Writes and edits various communication vehicles such as: press releases, client correspondence, strategic plans, collateral copywriting, client correspondence, meeting summaries, progress reports, etc.
Conducts media relations activities—including media pitching and follow up, coordination of interview requests, desk side briefings, etc. Responsible for researching, updating and maintaining media lists for local and national radio, television and newspaper contacts.
Works closely with social and digital marketing teams on content development and integrated messaging.
Serves as a point of contact and liaison between the agency and assigned client in some matters.
Assists in developing short-term and long-range communications goals and objectives for assigned clients. Participates in brainstorming and idea generation planning sessions with members of agency. Works with IMRE team and client in implementing integrated marketing programs consistent with the clients mission and strategic plan.
Answers routine inquiries from the media, clients and general public, which requires knowledge of operations, activities, policies, and procedures, and other client related activities. Directs callers to appropriate individuals as needed. Transmits sensitive and confidential information to appropriate employees and clients.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Position requires exceptional oral and written communications skills and knowledge of media and public relations techniques and procedures in order to coordinate public relations activities, develop media relations, and analyze and report results. A bachelor’s degree in mass communications, public relations, English, journalism or a closely related field.
Work requires knowledge of public relations strategies and evaluation techniques, and skills necessary to deal effectively with clients—normally acquired through two to five years’ progressively more responsible work experience, preferably in an agency.
Work requires interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a variety of internal and external audiences, to represent clients to the media and various groups, to propose communications goals and objectives, to seek out and build relationships with potential clients, to close deals and to lead and direct subordinate staff.
Position requires research, problem solving and conceptual skills to recommend approaches and methods; to plan, coordinate, and evaluate communications activities; to prepare reports and analyses; to project trends and developments in the field; and to recommend short-term and long-range goals and strategies based on such.
Must be a self-starter, proactive communicator, and independent worker. Health care experience and high-profile media contacts in the health care industry is a plus. Previous writing samples of press releases, marketing materials, pitches, etc. is encouraged.
Normal office environment, where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or smoke.
Reports to account manager.
