Lay-Offs At Lowe And The Recession
The break up of Bear Stearns and the almost-here recession is already causing some folks to lose their gigs. Today's New York Daily News has an article about staffers across all industries getting their walking papers. We didn't hear about the original October lay-offs at Lowe, but tucked away mid-article is this quote:
"I couldn't believe it," said Hilda Espinoza, 54, who was laid off in October after eight years processing bills at ad agency Lowe Worldwide in midtown. Unable to find a new position since then, the Flushing, Queens, single mom has already lost her car, and she fears her house may be next."
Fuck. Double fuck - we hear some other rumblings about two big agencies getting ready to send out the pink slips - one in Detroit and the other New York. Hold on to your hats, kids. Hold on tight.
