Being a Democrat Linked to Obama is Now a Bad Thing

The race for Missouri’s next U.S. Senator is heating up, and a new negative campaign ad from the Republican challenger Roy Blunt is using the support President Barack Obama as a point of weakness in Democrat Robin Carnahan‘s campaign.

While it’s not the first political ad decrying Obama’s supposed failure since he took office, the ad could be a sign of trending anti-Obama sentiment for the upcoming midterm elections. Carnahan is currently Missouri’s secretary of state, and with a promotion to the U.S. Senate, Obama’s liberal agenda would have another supporter.

Missouri has traditionally been a red state in recent presidential elections including the 2008 race. Will Missouri officially become part of the South? Is Barack Obama’s legacy that of the Democratic George W. Bush? Forty-four percent of voters currently “Strongly Disapprove” of Obama’s performance. Is it a good idea for Democrats up for election to stay away from the current administration altogether?
