Something Fun: Every year on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, STIR commemorates its fallen soldiers on a day known as Captain Dan Turkey Day. Captain Dan (Ed’s note: not to be confused with Lt. Dan) returned from the war in Iraq to pursue a career in advertising, which he unfortunately ended after a mere 8 hours. In remembrance of this noble yet feeble casualty, STIR welcomes back each and every one of itsagency alumni for a lavish feast and daytime binge. Captain Dan has yet to participate.

Boutique Call: Intro and Nonbox

In an effort to reach out to those of you who don’t slave for the BDAs, we’re starting a new feature, right here and right now, that’s meant specifically for the small to mid sized shops. Readers, meet Boutique Call. Please don’t take the word “boutique” the wrong way &#151 it just worked so well in our little double entendre.

We hope this feature will go down like this: as often as we can, we’ll write brief posts about small to mid-sized shops (one per day, we imagine). The ball is in your court to send us a brief description of your shop, and the key players working there/the clients that pay your kids’ college tuition.

Here’s a real example.

Agency/Location: Nonbox, Hales Corners, Wisconsin

Motto:
“Nonbox was established to…help people learn to trust your brands”

Founded: 1959 by ad-mogul William Eisner (the shop was called “William Eisner & Associates back in those days), Nonbox was so named by William’s son Bill, who took over the agency after his father died in 1990.

About:
Collectively, Nonbox has three locations &#151 making it a mid-sized agency with offices in Orlando and Portland. BJ Bueno and Steve Karakas run those offices, with interactive coming out of Florida and marketing out of Portland.

Clients: On the roster, they’ve got Coca-Cola, CAT, Adidas, Harley, UNICEF, Scheels and more.

Something Fun:
Every Tuesday they serve their employees custard. It’s Wisconsin’s version of ice cream, and it is de-lisch.

So now you know. Tell us about your shop, by e-mailing matt@mediabistro dot com.
