Limbaugh: "I want the largest audience I can get because that's how I can charge the highest advertising ratings - rates"
NBC Today show correspondent Jamie Gangel sat down with Rush Limbaugh to discuss his radio program. During the conversation, Limbaugh admitted that his show is entirely about ratings and basically that he's in this for the money. Well, no kidding Rush. Thanks for not, you know, pretending to care about the message you're delivering! The question: "Who do you do your show for?" The answer: "My audience. For ratings. I will admit it. Let me shock the world right here on NBC. I am doing my show for ratings. I want the largest audience I can get because that's how I can charge the highest advertising ratings rates. Which means what else do I want? Money." It's not a shock, but what Limbaugh said was interesting because not only does he try to mold the answer to sound like he actually cares, but moments later he undermines himself. He doesn't mean his audience, the people, individuals who need to hear his interpretation. He means the individuals who, when grouped together, make for a healthy Nielsen rating chart and a fat rate card.
