McCann SF Lays Off Close to 40

As we first touched on in the middle of June, McCann San Francisco has laid off approximately 40 staffers today, a tally that’s now been confirmed by an agency spokesperson.

Another source tells us that most of those let go were mid-level people from the Microsoft account, which is not surprising considering that the Microsoft Office business now belongs to JWT.

Still, it was only just over a month ago that McCann’s PR folks flatly denied our initial inquiry about the agency losing the MS biz. Now that it’s fact, how long will this loss continue to sting?
