Tuesday Odds and Ends

 

-Mindshare’s David Adelman, most recently executive director of the New York office, has been promoted to head of the agency’s Chicago office, where he will manage over 150 employees who work with clients including Kimberly-Clark, Dyson and Sam’s Club. Meanwhile, Mary Carpenter, who currently leads the Chicago team, will take on a North American role spearheading Mindshare’s new Performance Marketing practice.

-We’re not sure if we agree with Bill Meadows that this is “the best thing you will see on the internet today” but we are a bit intrigued by CP+B EP/head of radio and audio production Jason Gagnon‘s incomparable head-shaking skills (above).

-Catherine Lance Bones, a ten-year TBWA\Chiat\Day LA vet, and DDB LA alum Shannon Turner have joined digital marketing shop TVGla as controller and account director, respectively.

-DDB Public Relations has been named agency of record for Seattle’s The Woodmark Hotel.

-Whitehouse Post editor/partner Alaster Jordan will relocate from London to New York on Jan. 1. link

Learn How to Perform CPR Like a ‘Tough Guy’

From Grey London and Hungry Man UK comes the above PSA for the British Heart Foundation. Fans of violent action movies will immediately recognize the spot’s star as Vinnie Jones, the former Welsh soccer star (and sultry lounge singer) perhaps best known to Americans for his portrayal of “Bullet Tooth Tony” in the 2000 Guy Ritchie film Snatch. The man is an enforcer on the field and on the silver screen.

Perhaps more important than Vinnie Jones’ awesome personal history is how he’s helping save lives in “No Kissing.” Apparently, new breakthroughs in medical science or something have proven that mouth-to-mouth is no longer a necessary component of proper CPR administration. That’s right, easily manipulated lifeguards of the world. You no longer have to engage lip locks to save lives. All you need is some Bee Gees on a boombox, your own two hands, and the silly British version of emergency medical services to ensure your breathless subject stays alive.
