Cubes: VIP Tour of AOL and The Huffington Post

Combine tasty treats, sleek design, and the now famous ‘Sitting Cameramen of Astor Place’ and you get the latest episode of “Cubes.”

In this episode of Cubes, the MediabistroTV crew is invited into the New York Headquarters of AOL and The Huffington Post. Hosted by the founding editor of The Huffington Post and president of HuffPost Live, Roy Sekoff, the crew visits the cavernous Huffington Post newsroom where hundreds of writers sit keyboard to keyboard under the watchful gaze of Arianna Huffington herself who plays the always gracious hostess by offering up some tasty Greek Christmas cookies. After burning through the sugar high, the guys mingle with the ghosts of journalism past in the HuffPost Live newsroom where live news is served up eight hours a day by tables of writers, producers and editors who always know what time it is in Funkytown.

Webby Folks Announce 2012 Call for Entries (Already?)

It seems like only yesterday that we hit up the Webbys at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC, but guess time is truly flying. The people behind the “Internet’s highest honor” have just announced the call for entries for the 16th annual event, which will take place in Spring 2012. There will be a couple new additions at the next installment of the Webbys including two awards for corporate social responsibility as well as mobile apps and websites.

Early entry deadline is October 28, 2011 and as per usual, the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, which counts members including R/GA don Bob Greenberg and Ariana Huffington, will nominate and handpick the winners. Nominations will be announced in April 2012, during which time you can probably expect the return of these guys. In the meantime, you can submit work and get more info here.
