BBH NY Teams Up with The Corner Shop to Plug Playstation Plus

BBH New York have teamed up with production company The Corner Shop to produce this new spot promoting Sony’s new Playstation Plus network.

The 1:19 spot continues the trend of depicting gamers in real-life situations mirroring the games they’re playing, in lieu of actual gameplay. In this way, the spot shows a group of friends transition among a series of games (at one point one of the players says, “Guy’s it’s me,” but they’re no longer playing on the same team and just laugh), displaying the Playstation Plus’ “New Games Monthly” and “Next Gen Multiplayer” features simultaneously. It’s something of a spiritual successor to BBH’s lauded Perfect Day” spot from October, although it doesn’t have quite the same swagger. Credits after the jump. Read more

DHL Delivers Manchester United Stars to the World

One of the biggest benefits of sponsoring what is arguably the world’s most famous professional sports teams is being able to use its likeness in advertising. While logistics company DHL isn’t Manchester United’s main partner (insurance company AON is actually what takes up the most space on the team’s jerseys), a new campaign from 180 Amsterdam that continues the brand’s “Speed of Yellow” mantra finds Man U stars wearing slightly altered uniforms.

180 Amsterdam ECD Al Moseley says in a statement that the spot for DHL is, “Not another celebration of a sponsorship but a demonstration of a true partnership between global brands.” As a flying ball of yellow energy travels across continents, from London to Tokyo to Dubai to Rio de Janeiro, it soars near Man U’s biggest stars including Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, Nemanja Vidić, Park Ji-Sung,Chicharito’ and coach Sir Alex Ferguson.

A second spot that sheds (bright yellow) light on DHL’s various partnerships features the brand’s speed of delivery racing Formula 1 drivers. And, just like the first, it’s scored with DHL’s theme, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” So, how do you think this compares to UPS’ recent logistics TV spots? Axe Tones it Down in New, Angelic Spot

If you’re familiar with Axe spots, and we know you are, it’s all about selling sexual attraction and of course, the cosmetics brand has no shame showcasing what are usually absurd scenarios. While of course still selling the horizontal mambo, BBH UK takes a more angelic, subdued approach this time around to promote the brand’s Excite line. The spot depicts the residents of a picturesque European town going about their daily business who are suddenly confronted by beautiful female angels who fall from the sky. But why fill in the rest of the blanks in this self-explanatory clip, which was directed by Rupert Sanders and features a cover of Air’s 90′s classic, “Sexy Boy.”
