Factory Design Labs Welcomes New Global CCO

andrew_price

We’ve received word from Denver-based agency Factory Design Labs that Andrew Price has taken over as global chief creative officer. Price sends this note: “The CCO position was previously held by Blake Ebel. August 2010 – April 2012.  Blake was co-CCO at Euro RSCG Chicago, he left to begin a start-up agency here in Denver.  The position sat empty for a few months, then I took it over. When I was ECD, it was a sole position created uniquely for me at the time.I can add that Blake’s agency is called ‘Fear Not.” Price has been with FDL since 2000, moving up the ranks from ACD to his most recent post.

He adds, ““I lead by letting my teams take risks.  That’s what encourages alternative thinking, and that’s the kind of thing I’ve always thrived on.  Factory’s approach would seem out of place on Madison Avenue.  We dive into the brands we represent and we always speak authentically.  Everything we do is about resonating with the most critical consumer: our clients’ core audience.  As a result, people want to work with us and for us because you can be yourself.  And with other senior leadership changes and our on-going expansion plans, we are poised to continue making a series impact globally in 2014 and beyond.”

Hey, Blake Ebel’s Back, This Time Touting ‘Goodness’

In case you haven’t heard, our pals at the Denver Egotist have reported that Blake Ebel has resurfaced and opened a new Colorad0-based agency called Goodness Works, which touts itself as “an integrated group of problem solvers that simply believes goodness works.” Someone cue a line from Zoolander. If you remember, Ebel vacated his chief creative officer position at fellow CO shop Factory Design Labs a few months ago. Prior to his Colorado move, Ebel spent time as co-CCO at EuroRSCG Chicago and held senior creative positions at the likes of Y&R and JWT.

Is Blake Ebel Out at Factory Design Labs?

Yeesh, guess it’s one of those days. Something’s amiss at Denver-based Factory Design Labs as Blake Ebel, who resigned from his co-chief creative officer post at Euro RSCG Chicago in the summer of 2010 to join up with the former shop in the same role, is no longer on its agency leadership list. Ebel, if you recall, spent six years at Euro Chi and had a brief stint as co-CCO alongside Steffan Postaer, who  also left the agency himself just six months later. During his career, Ebel has also worked as a VP, creative director at Y&R as well as senior art director at JWT.

Factory Design Labs Picks Up Creative Duties for Callaway

Well, that was fast. Just two weeks after we reported that San Francisco agency Eleven and Callaway Golf ended their four-year relationship, we’ve received the news that Denver-based Factory Design Labs has been named the new creative AOR for the brand. Could we call this a score for Blake Ebel, the former Euro RSCG Chicago CCO who left to take on the same post at FDL almost a year ago?

Anyhow, it’s not the most irrational move for Callaway seeing as Factory Design Labs has already served as its digital agency of record. Now, the shop’s just responsible for all strategy, advertising, creative and production for the brand. FDL’s CEO Scott Mellin says in a statement, “Extending our relationship with Callaway Golf to include all advertising in addition to digital is a great honor. One that we take with a great deal of respect and responsibility.  Our teams have proven their knowledge of the business and the ability to execute.”
