GS&P Indeed Opening Up Shop in NYC

Well, that took a while. Nearly six weeks after we first received tips that Goodby Silverstein & Partners was planning to open up a New York office, the parties involved have finally made the news official. The agency will settle in come early February in a space at 200 Varick St. in downtown Manhattan. The Goodby New York office will be headed up by Christian Haas, who is adding partner to his ECD title, one which he’s held for well over two years and associate partner Nancy Reyes, a nine-year GS&P vet who will take on the role of managing director in the Big Apple.

In a statement, Haas seems pretty enthusiastic, saying, “It’s a dream job to open a celebrated agency like GSP in the most exciting city on Earth, especially when you can do it with someone you have nothing but admiration for.” Staff count has yet to be formalized, but once GS&P New York opens, it will begin servicing a client roster including Google, YouTube and Comcast.

Sprint Network Wants to Rename a Band

Meet Yerkish, a band with a name that “sounds like a Turkish yam.” No, you don’t need a “good” band name to make it big (see Green Day or Blink 182 for reference), but having a musical identity that rolls off the tongue goes a long way in marketing yourself. You also have to make good music, but that’s another story.

So, Sprint decided to help out our poor Denver-based foursome with a YouTube homepage takeover today courtesy of Goodby. Bringing to life Sprint’s “All.Together.Now” network idea (which gave us seizures in the past), the world now has an opportunity to rename Yerkish via crowdsourcing and hopefully send them on a trajectory toward fame and fortune. Hey, you’ve probably given up on touring the country in your sweet hair metal band by now. Might as well use that awesome band name you were saving for a rainy day and give it to a good cause. Credits (with a whole lotta creative directin’) after the jump.

Sprint Induces Seizures with ‘All Together Now’

Sure, this may not send people to the hospital like Kanye West‘s video for “All of the Lights.” But, if you’re hanging out on your office desktop, we recommend watching this new spot from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners on full-screen mode.

It seems that Sprint’s “Now Network” nickname is being dropped (at least in these spots) for “All. Together. Now.” A look at the campaign’s website reveals that Sprint’s Unlimited plan means a sad, blinking pug or a senior citizen smiling with floating balloons behind her. You can even call or text Veatrice to wish her a happy 100th birthday! While the site leans more toward the unlimited calling and texting aspects of the plan, TV spots like “Anthem” are more about viral video capabilities. Isn’t it time you used your HTC EVO to watch more people falling off of tables? Credits and the second spot, “Birthday,” after the jump.
