Draftfcb Turns Attention to Healthcare, Acquires Hudson Global

Draftfcb just sent the word out to employees this morning that it’s purchased Tarrytown, NY-based pharma marketing company Hudson Global, which houses 55+ employees and offers digital media, interactive marketing, strategy as well as data & analytics services. As a result of the acquisition, DFCB will align Hudson Global under its Healthcare umbrella, which also includes units such as  Area 23, Mosaic, NeON, and ProHealth.

Despite being bought up, though, the eight-year-old Hudson Global, which focuses on pharma, diagnostic and biotech, will keep its name, its Tarrytown office and leadership that includes co-founder/CEO/president Robert Blink and co-founder/EVP Jason Goldklang. In a statement, Draftfcb global CEO/president Laurence Boschetto says, “Our acquisition of Hudson is part of a long-term plan to make strategic acquisitions that will bolster our clients’ businesses and strengthen our agency’s offerings in those markets that offer the greatest opportunity.”

Your Friday Image: Draftfcb Poses with Penguins

Can someone cue the Morgan Freeman VO on this? Anyhow, you might have remembered that Draftfcb New York picked up the Sea World business a few weeks ago. To get into the spirit of things, we suppose, DFCB president/CEO Laurence Boschetto and DFCB New York CEO/Healthcare CEO & president Dana Maiman have welcomed a new logo design (well, for the photo-op at least) and cuddled with some penguins in the process. Here’s calling to you, Shamu.

Draftfcb NY Loses a Couple of Top Execs

Sources familiar with the matter confirm that Draftfcb New York EVP/group creative director Augé Reichenberg is leaving the agency after a 15-year run. We’ve been told that Reichenberg (pictured) is joining up with New Jersey-based Publicis Groupe agency Rosetta, will be running creative for its healthcare unit and, in the process, will be reuniting with former partner and current CCO Gary Scheiner. Prior to Draftfcb, Reichenberg enjoyed a nine-year run at McCann.

In addition to the aforementioned senior creative’s departure, Draftfcb has also lost Nanci Silverman, who spent the last five years at Draft, to Grey, which she officially joined on May 1 and now serves as EVP/group account director on the WPP agency’s Darden portfolio including Olive Garden, Red Lobster and Longhorn Steakhouses. Silverman replaces Michele Kay, who is “taking early retirement” according to Grey.

We’ve been told the parting was amicable, the pair is moving on to “greater opportunities” and to second that emotion, here’s a statement from Draftfcb NY CEO Dana Maiman, who says, ““We are so happy for both of them as are our clients. We wish them tremendous luck.”

DFCB NY CCO Moran Out, Nelson In…Temporarily

We’ve received a memo that was sent to staff this morning confirming that Draftfcb New York CCO Darren Moran (pictured), who joined the agency from Y&R in September 2010, is “parting ways” with the camp (we’ve been told by an agency insider that “he did not quit” and that it was a “mutual decision”). DFCB NY director of integrated production Anthony Nelson will take over in the meantime as a search for a successor, according to the note sent by Dana Maiman, gets underway. Peep the memo after the jump.

Sandy Kolkey Out at Draft

Six months later, it’s over as Sandy Kolkey left Draftfcb after taking over for Peter DeNunzio in March of this year. An agency spokesperson tells us:

“Sandy Kolkey and Draftfcb agreed to part company.  We thank him for his many contributions to our agency over the years and wish him continued success.  Our New York agency will continue to be led by Dana Maiman, who was named CEO in August.  In managing the office she will partner closely with Darren Moran, who recently joined Draftfcb New York as our chief creative officer.”

Sources familiar with the matter add that Maiman has tripled the size of Draftfcb Healthcare over the past five years, and despite the constant rumors over the years, Draftfcb New York and Draftfcb Healthcare will continue to run as separate operations.
