Here’s More on Bogusky’s ‘Return’ to Advertising

Well, we had a feeling he still had one foot in the door considering that spies were hinting about this as far back as late April (and we were told by those in the know on the 26th of said month that it was “100% not true”). Anyhow, by now, many of you have probably heard that the man, the myth, the earth-saving bike-sharer known as Alex Bogusky is kinda sorta making a return to advertising. We’ve been told that Bogusky officially signed on July 2 to serve as an investor and creative advisor for Made Movement, a shop formed by fellow CP+B alums to support “a resurgence in American manufacturing.”

In a statement, Bogusky says, “I know these guys are the best in the business and I would pretty much invest in any agency they are a part of. But when they told me the idea, it was a really perfect fit.” The folks at Made, which was founded by Dave Schiff, Scott Prindle and John Kieselhorst, have not only welcomed their old pal Bogusky aboard, but have launched the Made Collection, which includes American-made goods that you can shop for on a flash-sale website (teaser above).

Regarding Bogusky’s arrival, Schiff, who serves as partner/CCO, adds, “To say Alex is an asset is understating it. He’s a guy with the uncanny ability to peek around corners and see what’s coming next. He’s a compass for where we’re headed, a barometer for the quality of our work and an impassioned co-conspirator in our enterprise. More than that, he’s a friend.”

Fox Moves Up the Ranks at CP+B

After spending technically four years in the CP+B camp after the MDC agency acquired his interactive shop Texture Media, Dan Fox is getting promoted once again, this time adding “executive” to his VP, creative technology director title. Since 2008, Fox has worked as technical director on VW’s website and has been involved with notable CP+B clients including Best Buy, Old Navy, Bolthouse Farms and Kraft (remember this interesting work for Jell-O last December?).

Anyhow, we’ve been told that “in a sense,” Fox replaces Scott Prindle, who left to start up MADE along with fellow former CP+B-ers Dave Schiff and John Kieselhorst just a month ago.

CP+B Execs Split to Form MADE

Crispin Porter + Bogusky perhaps took a hit as of late as Dave Schiff, Scott Prindle and John Kieselhorst left the agency to form their own shop called MADE, which was created to support “a resurgence in American manufacturing.”

Regarding the split from CP+B and formation of their new shop, which is capitalizing on the “buy American” trend, Schiff says in a statement, “CP+B is a great agency and I could never see myself leaving to go to another agency, but this is a mission. We work a lot in advertising, and I want to put every hour into building something I’m deeply committed to.” Schiff continues, “More than 5.5 million U.S. manufacturing jobs have been lost or outsourced since 2001, yet if the average American spent just 1 percent more on American-made goods and services, it would create 250,000 new jobs. We feel like we can help make that happen and more.”

During his time at CP+B, Schiff served as VP/ECD while Prindle, who spent six years at the Boulder-based operation and was considered an “original architect” of the agency’s digital process, spent the last two two-and-a-half as VP, executive technology director. Kieselhorst, meanwhile, served as executive design director and together, the trio worked across a range of Crispin clients including Coke Zero, Volkswagen, Burger King, Sprite, Domino’s, MINI Cooper and Best Buy.

The central concept of the group’s new “America! Fuck Yeah!”-themed agency is an integrated consumer/brand community.

CP+B, Coke Zero Lobby to Make Day after Super Bowl a National Holiday

Judging by the fact that millions of people have probably called in sick today (and millions more are probably just showing up to the office), we can’t say we disagree with a new Coke Zero campaign calling to make the day after Super Bowl Sunday a federal holiday dubbed, er, Magnificent Monday. Well, the name could use some tweaking, but we’re on board with this effort from CP+B. On the social media front, the beverage brand is asking the Twitterverse to log on and submit ideas on how to make this holiday happen using the hashtag #magmonday. We have faith that this could become reality in the coming years, folks, so let’s get to it already. Credits after the jump.

While We Wait for NBA Lockout to End, Let’s Watch Pros Work Out

We don’t know how many of you are NBA fans out there, but we are unabashedly and this wait for a regular season to start has seemed interminable. Anyhow, CP+B picks up where its launch spot for Under Armour’s b-ball division left off, with the ninth pick in the 2011 NBA draft, Kemba Walker, going through some seriously rigorous training. Hopefully, all this training finally gives him something to play for soon enough. Credits after the jump.

Waiting for the Bus and Need to Charge? Vitaminwater Can Help

Waiting for the damn bus can be a pain and a potential drain on your mobile device battery, but CP+B, under the creative direction of Ari Merkin, is trying to give the latter a boost as part of its “You’re Up” campaign for Vitaminwater. The parties have installed a 5-volt battery-powered USB port within a display ad in select bus shelters in NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles and Boston that lets you charge your USB-compatible mobile, gaming device or MP3 player. The above pic, which was taken at the Chicago unit, shows you everything you need to know and the tagline itself seems fitting enough, but we’re still not sure if it makes being stuck at the bus stop more worth it. Credits after the jump.

Stay Classy, Soho House

Here’s some shit you’ll love: we hear that the Soho Beach House, Miami approached the CP+B Miami office and offered every person at the agency (all 10 of them) a membership for the year! Of course they all have to pay for their own ways, but come on. Is someone bedding the concierge at the Miami Soho House?! There’s a waiting list at both NYC and LA locations and these wankers just get memberships handed to them? I mean, it’s not like any of them will have the time to party since they’re sooooo busy bringing people over from the Boulder office (Dave Schiff and Alex Bernard, we’re looking at you), but seriously. How ’bout you guys throw some of those memberships our way? We’ll gladly take one or 5 of your hands…
