Mr. Youth Brings in More Creatives

Just weeks after appointing Euro RSCG alum David Weinstock as its ECD, New York-based social media agency Mr. Youth has added two more staffers to its creative department with the hiring of ACD/art director Ben Waldman and ACD/copywriter Josh Young.

Waldman, who looks a bit like American Pie‘s Jason Biggs, arrives from BBDO New York, where he was a creative supervisor/AD and worked on accounts including Gillette, Milky Way and New Balance. Now at Mr. Youth, the newly appointed ACD will be involved with Nike, P&G and Microsoft as well as new business opportunities. Young, meanwhile, was group creative director at NY boutique Agent16, the shop behind one of our, um, favorite campaigns from 2009. In his new ACD/CW role, Young will contribute to Bing, HP and Dasani along with new biz opps as well.

Besides the usual “I’m excited to work with…” statements regarding their new employer, Waldman adds, “I like being surrounded by such good-looking people.”

Weinstock Indeed Leaves Euro, Heads to Mr. Youth

It’s been almost a month since we reported that Euro RSCG creative director David Weinstock was likely on his way out the door, and now we’ve received official word that he has in fact left the agency for an ECD post at NYC-based social media shop, Mr. Youth.

As previously mentioned, Weinstock was a CD on the award-winning Dos Equis “Most Interesting Man” campaign as well as Kraft while at Euro. In his new post, which he assumes today, he will take the creative lead and oversee work for all Mr. Youth clients including Bing, Coca-Cola and Xbox. In a statement, Weinstock’s new boss, Mr. Youth CEO/founder Matt Britton, says, “David’s digital roots as a developer and programmer, coupled with his innovative thinking, will really take our creative department to the next level as we continue to grow our agency. The work he’s done for Dos Equis while at Euro is standout – he’s exactly the type of person we want leading our creative teams.”

But where art thou Weinstock’s old partner-in-crime, Andy Currie? Holler if you hear us, sir.

We Hear: Dos Equis Duo Leaving Euro RSCG

Sources familiar with the matter wouldn’t confirm or deny that Andy Currie and David Weinstock are on their way out at Euro RSCG New York. The duo has spent the past few years as creative directors on the Dos Equis account, which of course features the Cannes/Effie/D&AD/Clio-winning “Most Interesting Man in the World” campaign. Currie, aka “The Balding Punk,” has been with Euro since 2007, joining as senior copywriter before moving up to ACD then eventually CD. Prior to that, he served as a CW at TBWA\Chiat\Day and Wunderman among others. Weinstock has logged five years at Euro RSCG, first starting as a CD in its 4D unit. He also owned his own shop, Flippedlid Design, for well over a decade.

No word on what the timetable is for the exits or where the pair is headed to next. Apparently, almost everyone’s hit the mute button, but we’ll hopefully sort this out in the days to come.

Another Day, Another Agency Moustache Battle

Isn’t a bit too early (or late) to celebrate Movember? Whatever the case, the folks at Euro RSCG NY have posted the images from their fourth annual moustache contest. Hard to believe we’re at four already. Anyways, the pic above of creative director David Weinstock is one of many the agency’s posted on the “EuroStache” site, which breaks the contest down into categories including “Funniest” and “Most Pathetic.” Frankly, we’ve been over this facial hair frenzy for a while, though this guy gives us hope.
