Lowe Campbell Ewald Wants to Help Keep California Golden

Lowe Campbell Ewald, Los Angeles teamed up with newly created brand Energy Upgrade California in a state government effort to start a conversation around energy and water use management in anticipation of the summer drought season, predicted to be one of the worst in the state’s history.

Since California is a fragmented state, with its citizens pledging allegiance to a specific region, Lowe Campbell Ewald knew they needed to draw on a unifying factor. So they leveraged the bear from California’s state flag, turning him into a relatable character who sits atop the flagpole by day and enjoys all the state has to offer his work day is over, while also educating Californians on how they can help California stay golden. In the spot, he shares valuable tips like replacing old bulbs with LEDs and using a programmable thermostat. He concludes by directing viewers to Energy Upgrade’s site. Here is Argonaut’s Teaser for VW Super Bowl Spot

Yes, we’re heard the bells chiming today on the Spy line and above, you’ll see the teaser for San Francisco-based Argonaut’s Volkswagen Super Bowl spot, which as you can imagine, does not involve Deutsch LA in the mix. Argonaut, if you recall, was founded by Goodby, Silverstein &  Partners alums Rick Condos and Hunter Hindman, who serve as co-chief creative officers of their operation, which also just added head of interactive development Aaron McGuire and head of broadcast production Dan Watson to its roster.Let the confetti, Carmen Electra and chaos fly, with an added dose of Wang Chung. K-Swiss Campaign Writer Gets ‘Eastbound & Down’ Gig

So, by now, we’re sure most of you are aware of the 72andSunny-created Kenny Powers/K-Swiss campaign that’s been lighting up the interwebs. Well, the campaign, which officially launches tonight during the ESPY’s (which K-Swiss is a sponsor of), has proven to be a boon for its writer, Matt Heath, who sources familiar with the matter say will be involved with the writing team on season three of HBO’s Eastbound & Down, which just may be the last one and of course stars Kenny Powers himself, Danny McBride. Nice one and from what we’re hearing, Heath still has a gig at 72andSunny. Check out a few more spots including the now-famous CEO ad along with credits after the jump.

Partnership for a Drug-Free America Changes Name…Slightly

The Partnership for a Drug-Free America is changing its name to The Partnership at, so in support of the new moniker, Euro RSCG New York is launching a new campaign for the nonprofit to intdroduce the re-branding and make more relevant to its target audience: parents and families.

Euro RSCG New York will be designing new public service announcements for TV such as the one above and print media featuring the new branding and logo, also designed by the agency, all for the purpose of encouraging parents to get involved.

This one is appropriately serious but we doubt whatever Euro comes up with will ever top that “I learned it by watching you!” spot from eons ago. You can take a look at their website for more info and view full credits after the jump.
