Wednesday Odds and Ends

-Grey New York gets, well, more intimate, and a tad juvenile (what else could you do, really) to promote Energizer Personal Care’s “Fresh + Sexy” wipes by Playtex, which we’ve actually been hearing Howard Stern do live ads for during breaks on his radio show over the past week. Anyways, the campaign is called “Clean where it counts.” See more here.

-Draftfcb has hired Razorfish alum Brooks Day as VP of business development in its San Francisco office.

-New York-based editorial house Northern Lights has added editor Josh Towvim to its roster.

Bessie Awards Take On Ads without Ideas

On May 19, Toronto (which is, believe it or not, a city in Canada) will host the Bessie Awards at the Royal Conservatory of Music. On hand will be Chuck Porter (from Crispin Porter + Bogusky, duh), cocktails and awards for “Ads with Ideas.” Maybe Alex Bogusky will make a surprise guest appearance and fly in from the rafters as “Fartman” ala Howard Stern on the MTV Movie Awards. This fanboy can only dream…

To honor the occasion, CP+B Canada has produced a trilogy of videos poking fun at some of the trendy marketing strategies plaguing the advertising industry a decade into the 21st century. An “agency” like Victors & Spoils might get its panties in a bundle over the above spot, “Crowd Sourcing,” while “Tweets” takes a dig at the social media intelligenstia who value re-Tweets over actually making a client money. Any way you slice it, CP+B has a really good point: leave ads in the hands of trained professionals with creative ideas.
