Damman Promoted to CCO at Carmichael Lynch

While we’re on the Minneapolis tip today, we should let you know that less than a year after leaving Fallon for fellow Twin Cities operation Carmichael Lynch, Dave Damman has been promoted to chief creative officer at the latter agency (the post was vacant for months and was last held by Jim Nelson).  Damman rejoined CL last March as ECD on Rubbermaid and First Energy accounts as well as new business pitches.

The new Carmichael Lynch CCO, who kickstarted his career at Saatchi & Saatchi New York as an art director and assumed the same title at TracyLocke among other agencies, will oversee a client roster that includes the aforementioned Rubbermaid (make that Newell Rubbermaid) as well as Subaru of America and Jack Link’s. Damman first joined Carmichael Lynch in 1996 and worked on Harley-Davidson and Brown Foreman.

Carmichael Lynch Promotes Germscheid to Partner

While we await some sort of news on a replacement for CCO Jim Nelson, who “parted ways” with Carmichael Lynch last month, the Minneapolis agency has announced that it’s promoted Joe Germscheid to director of consumer engagement, partner. Germscheid has been leading digital media planning and buying at CL ever since he joined the IPG-owned shop from Fallon back in 2009.

During his nearly four-year stint at Fallon, Germscheid–who’s also a certified fitness instructor in case you really wanted to know–served as interactive media director. Prior to that, he had a four-year stint, once again on the media side, at MRM Worldwide.

Jim Nelson Out at Carmichael Lynch

Don’t worry, Carmichael Lynch tipster, we didn’t forget ya. A phone call to the Minneapolis agency confirms that chief creative officer Jim Nelson is no longer working at the agency (reason why will hopefully follow shortly). We’ve been hearing that Nelson was one of three senior managers who “parted ways” with CL as of last week, though we’re still waiting for info/confirmation on the other parties.

Nelson put in nearly two decades at Carmichael Lynch, and during his time at the agency, he’s worked across a range of clients from Harley-Davidson and Porsche to Gibson and Northwest Airlines. He was promoted to GCD in 1998, then ECD/senior partner in 2003. Most recently, the creative and his crew at CL picked up a Webby in the automotive category for their Subaru “Mediocrity” campaign (acceptance speech above). We’ve been told a new CCO hasn’t been appointed as of yet.
