CHI&Partners and Argos Are Way Ahead of You on Christmas Shopping

One of the few facts we can establish regarding this new CHI&Partners spot for retailer Argos is that it is definitely NOT set in Hollis, Queens.

The latest ad in the biggest-ever “Get Set Go Argos” campaign is a take on the classic advent calendar: instead of quarters, this one is filled with all the great products you might find in the aisles of Argos (it’s a UK thing we wouldn’t understand).

In case you missed it, the press release tells us that it “sends an upbeat message of festive cheer to Argos customers” and that “the tree- shaped calendar is topped by a child hip-hop dancing – a contemporary twist on the traditional Christmas Fairy.” Didn’t really get that…

The ad, which will air tomorrow on The X Factor, the MTV EMA Awards and several other programmes that we can’t stream live in Brooklyn, follows two others in the series — which we’ve embedded with credits below.

CHI&Partners Launch ‘The Mission’ for TalkTalk

CHI&Parnters is launching its latest animated campaign for TalkTalk, the fourth in a series of animated campaigns from the agency, entitled “The Mission.”

The 60-second spot tells the story of six household objects who come to life and embark on a journey in search of great TV. “The Mission” follows a doll, a garden gnome, a toy robot, a dog-lamp, and two slippers through a grand journey as they battle the elements, traversing the varying terrains of a neighborhood, before finally arriving through a doggy door to a house with TalkTalk TV. The well-animated spot pulls off the approach with style, making for a fun spot that feels like a mini-odyssey. It is the first of four new spots which will roll out between September and January.

“Our award-winning animations for TalkTalk have set a precedent over the years – and this year we’ve aimed to raise the bar again,” said CHI&Partners Creative Director Micky Tudor. “Everything about this little film is epic. Shot in cinemascope, voiced by Derek Jacobi and with a sweeping score from ‘Last of the Mohicans’, this spot is packed with the kind of extraordinary craft that is normally reserved for the world of feature films.” Read more

CHI & Partners Sets ‘Amazing in Motion’ for Lexus

CHI & Partners latest for Lexus’ “Amazing in Motion” campaign is a visually stunning look at performers in LED suits exploring the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

The LED suits were created by costume designer Vin Burnham and technical director Adam Wright, with inspiration from Lexus’ “iconic spindle grille and LED headlights.” Director Adam Berg and his team then utilized a “purpose built computer system and complex DMX software” (which, we imagine, stops, drops, and opens up shop), “created to wirelessly trigger the suits to strobe on demand” and captured a group of stunt men and acrobatic performers as they made the Kuala Lumpur skyline their playground. It’s a simple concept, but it makes for a visually intriguing 60 seconds, even if viewers are left wondering what they’re watching an ad for until right before the “Amazing in Motion” tagline. Since it’s so hard to take your eyes off of, that might not even be a problem. Stick around for credits after the jump (and find more info at the official campaign site). Read more

After Long Search, Justin Tindall Appointed ECD at Leo Burnett

Leo Burnett UK’s search is over as the agency’s finally found themselves an ECD and he goes by the name of  Justin Tindall, says Campaign. He’ll be replacing Jonathan Burley who blew a few minds by leaving back in April to take an ECD role at CHI & Partners.

Tindall built his reputation at DDB London, where he was the head of art and worked alongside creative partner Adam Tucker. For the past Four years,  Tindall has been at The Red Brick Road as a partner with a stake in the agency.

Tindall says in a statement, “This is one of the biggest creative jobs in the country and a chance to work on a fantastic portfolio of clients. The breadth and scale of Leo Burnett’s creative ambition is matched entirely by my own.”
It’s still a little up in the air when Tindall will start at Burnett or what will happen to his stake in The Red Brick Road.
