Amy Poehler Shines as Boss in Chandelier’s New Old Navy Spot

Amy Poehler shines as a boss with a pampered dog and an obsession with a prospective employee’s pants in Chandelier’s new spot for Old Navy, created in conjunction with Rock Paper Scissors and Sonic Union.

In the spot, the Parks and Recreation star/SNL alum Poehler is supposed to be conducting a job interview, but can’t get over the applicants’ Old Navy Pixie Pants. “Are all these questions going to be about my pants?” the girl asks. To which Poehler responds, “Uh, this is a law firm, so yes.”

When Poehler learns that the pants are only $25 and come with a free top, she hires the girl on the spot so that she can run out and buy a pair. All this is actually a good deal funnier than that synopsis sounds, thanks to Poehler’s signature deadpan humor. Poehler also helped write and direct the spot, which helps explain how it works so well with her brand of comedy. The :30 spot doesn’t waste any time getting to the funny, either, as Poehler opens the ad with a great throwaway line. Check it out for yourself above, and stick around for credits after the jump.

BBDO NY Resurrects Agent Smith for Latest GE Effort

Has it really been ten years since The Matrix: Revolutions tarnished the Wachowskis’epic saga? Time flies, but while we’d rather forget the third and final Matrix installment, we’re happy to once again see Hugo Weaving as the relentless Agent Smith, whose dapper yet menacing visage appears along with several doppelgangers in this latest effort from BBDO New York for GE called “Agent of Good.”

The spot, which was directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express), debuted over the weekend and showcases GE’s industrial internet technology and how the corporate giant connecting its medical hardware to its software is benefiting hospitals–or something to that effect. Despite being a decade removed from the Matrix films, Weaving shows no signs of rust as he brings the snarl of his most iconic character to the most sterile of environments. Stick around for the final moments for your most obvious Matrix reference, minus Morpheus. Credits after the jump.

State Farm Supplies LeBron with World’s Smallest Violin

How did Miami Heat forward LeBron James and his buddy smash an SUV into a mail box and sever the head of a marble lion statue in the middle of the day? We may never know, but thankfully his State Farm agent arrived to the scene well before the cops showed up and started asking these difficult questions.

Though this spot from Translation NY refuses to respond directly to the anti-LeBron smear campaign competitor Allstate has been running in the Chicago area, it still uses the familiar magical jingle State Farm insurance is pushing in all of their commercials. Sadly, this spot doesn’t have an appearance from “The Girl From 4E” or Weezer. If a “binky for Baby Bron-Bron” doesn’t sound appropriate, maybe State Farm could add Boston Celtics center Glen “Big Baby” Davis to its ever-growing roster of celebrity endorsers. Credits after the jump.
