F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi Gets Sentimental for Electrolux

Well, Mother’s Day may have been over two weeks ago, but apparently May is Mother’s Month now (who knew?) so technically F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi isn’t late to the party with their maternally sentimental spot for Electrolux, entitled “Best Mother’s Day Present.”

The 2:30 spot tells the story of a daughter leaving São Paulo for college on Mother’s Day, and the sentimental surprise she received on her flight, causing the airline to make an exception to its menu. F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi reverse the traditional role of mothers receiving gifts on their day, ending with the message “Because being a mom is the best Mother’s Day present.” Be warned that, if you’re the kind of person who is strongly affected by this kind of thing, the emotional spot may make you shed a few tears at work, so you just might want to wait until the week is officially over to check it out. Stick around for credits after the jump. Read more

You Should Probably Be Rolling on Molly When Watching These New Skol Ads

What the hell?

Well, credit Brazilian-based F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi for truly capturing that disorienting mix of horniness and fearfulness that comes with doing a bunch of drugs and then grinding up on a bunch of weirdos for a few hours. A new campaign for African and South American beer brand Skol (not to be confused with American chewing tobacco brand Skoal, which is still around apparently) advertises ‘The Summer Beats Festival,’ a series of 20 parties/concerts around Brazil that features the country’s best DJs.

What’s the appeal, your uncultured ‘Merican self might ask? Well, rumor has it that if you get fucked up enough and dance harder than anyone else, there’s a strong likelihood that you’ll have sex with a girl wearing a tiger mask, a guy wearing a rabbit mask, or (jackpot!) both at the same time. That certainly sounds fun, doesn’t it?

A collection of shorter sports promises that after your wild night of substance abuse and terrifying lovemaking, you get to relax on one of Brazil’s many gorgeous beaches, which may or may not be filled with floating piles of garbage. Then, of course, it’s out again for another night of intermittent bouts of crying and psychotic screaming. Woo! Two more spots, and credits, follow after the jump.

F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi Skol Beer Design: Drink, Decorate, Sit On It

As part of their Skol Design line, the international beer brand and F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi invited renowned furniture designer Pedro Useche to create an armchair out of Skol bottles. Useche said, “Turning an armchair into a desirable object is not only about showing aesthetic attributes but most of all, making people feel comfortable when they sit on it.” The Skol bottles can spin, creating a massage sensation for each lucky occupant.

The video that accompanies Skol Design is in entirely in Portuguese, but if the lines were in English I can guess they would include gems like, “Here’s your house, in which you store the things you love…until your monstrous girlfriend arrives!” Said flower-loving, mirror-toting creature proceeds to completely rearrange the man cave. But! Justice is restored by Skol Designs, whose bottle lamps and clocks give the GF the chic feel she wants while still satisfying man’s need for beer.

Apparently the villainous girlfriend trope does well with South American audiences, as sister agency Del Campo Saatchi & Saatchi have had success with this before. I’ll admit the Skol chair is cute, but I’d much rather see a couple making sweet love on the rolling bottles than a wide-eyed girlfriend horror story.
