Your Latest 30-and-Under Ad Competition Costs $10 to Enter

“8 Months. 8 Briefs. 8 Big Name Judges” is the tagline for a new global competition called Young Glory, which was launched by former Tomorrow Awards managing director Rafik Belmesk–who is now strategic planner, interactive at Montreal shop lg2–and his pal Brendan Graham from Soap Sydney. The idea, according to the lads, is to reward students and pros under 30 for “creative consistency.” How? By calling on a different creative director from a different region of the world each month for the next eight months to submit a brief. Those wishing to participate then have one month to respond to each brief.

Young Glory officially kicked off on Oct. 1 and the first brief comes from AKQA CCO Rei Inamoto, whose theme is “Keep the World Cool.” While you only have til Oct. 31 to respond to this particular brief, of which Inamoto will obviously play judge, those submitting can compete in one, several or all months that Young Glory exists. One of the draws, according to Belmesk, is the $10 entry fee. He tells us, “Contrary to the award shows, it doesn’t cost a fortune to enter. 10 bucks is mainly to make sure people don’t enter any rubbish they can think of.” Following Inamoto’s October run, OgilvyOne India ECD Graham Kelly will take over with his brief and play judge in November. You can read the Young Glory FAQ to get more info.
