All we hear is the busy signal on multiple occasions when dialing for Eric Bader, who multiple sources say is no longer with Initiative, where he’s served as president/chief strategy officer for the last two years. By the way, Inititative needs to do some updating on its website, as it still has Richard Beaven toplining its leadership team. Beavan, if you may remember, was cut from the IPG agency over a month ago. According to our spies, Bader’s apparent departure is part of Matt Seiler and Jim Hytner’s retooling at Initiative. We’re pressing for comment on the matter and will let you know when we get it.

After days of no replies from the Initiative camp and phone calls that went straight to an assistant, who said “he’s in a meeting” on Monday, Campaign confirms that Richard Beaven is out at the IPG agency after four years. According to the trade, Jim Hytner (looking quizzical to your left) who has been serving as president of Universal McCann’s G14 Group, will serve as global chief exec at Initiative, which is also moving its headquarters from New York to London. Here’s a doomsday tip that we received last Saturday, verbatim:
“richard beaven out at initative. to be replaced by jim hytner. anyone that is does not become a “yes man” to matt seiler is out at media brands. Matt Freeman – gone, Richard Beaven - gone, Bant Breen – gone, George Pace – gone, next up ?”
Matt Seiler, in case you didn’t know, was named CEO of IPG’s Mediabrands a year ago. No word back on the “yes man” allegations, though.
The Cannes Lion announces keep rolling out and this time, it concerns the Titanium and Integrated jury, which will be chaired by DDB Worldwide chairman/CCO Bob Scarpelli, aka the man of many thoughts. Scarpelli, who previously served as president of both the Cannes Lion Press and Film juries in 2007, will be joined by nine others on Titanium/Integrated at this year’s advertising bacchanal including Iain Tait and Linus Karlsson (the new McCann NY/London chairman/CCO who we hear is currently on an international introduction tour).
In addition to the aforementioned categories, Scarpelli & Co. will also be awarding the Grand Prix for Good, which goes to the best entry selected from all the Gold Lion winners in the charities and public services categories, but was ineligible to win their category Grand Prix. Last year, AMV BBDO picked up the first-ever Good prize. See full Titanium & Integrated jury list below:
