Last we heard from Virgin Mobile, the brand and its agency Mother New York were regaling us with Richard Branson‘s rather whimsical life story. Now, the two parties have returned to actual product promotion by touting Virgin Mobile’s $35/month phones, which as you can see above, cause people to purposely ditch their current mobile devices in a variety of ways. In this world, the price point and lack of contract lock-ins at Virgin Mobile are deemed worthy enough to engage in a variety of “happy accidents,” whether it’s tossing your phone off a roof or into a blender. Now that we’ve got the whole Mother/Chevy/Goodby confusion out of the way (we hope), here’s the previously mentioned “Centennial” work from GS&P that broke during game one of the World Series last night. The spot, which is called “Then & Now” and was created in conjunction with Park Pictures and director/DP Lance Acord, celebrates the automotive brand that was founded on November 3, 1911 by Swiss immigrant Louis Chevrolet and U.S. entrepreneur Billy Durant. While it’s all nice and tender and all, commenters on YouTube are already calling foul, claiming this ad is ripping off the blog, Dear Photograph. Well, at least the “Let’s Do This” Chevy Sonic work that Goodby is also behind is fairly novel. What say you, readers? Credits after the jump.

So, by now, we’re sure most of you are aware of the 72andSunny-created Kenny Powers/K-Swiss campaign that’s been lighting up the interwebs. Well, the campaign, which officially launches tonight during the ESPY’s (which K-Swiss is a sponsor of), has proven to be a boon for its writer, Matt Heath, who sources familiar with the matter say will be involved with the writing team on season three of HBO’s Eastbound & Down, which just may be the last one and of course stars Kenny Powers himself, Danny McBride. Nice one and from what we’re hearing, Heath still has a gig at 72andSunny. Check out a few more spots including the now-famous CEO ad along with credits after the jump.

David&Goliath nixes the Yo Gabba Gabba gang and Heavy soundtrack in favor of a CGI-addled extravaganza starring everyone from Poseidon and aliens to tribal warriors with its 2011 Super Bowl entry for Kia and its Optima line.

Really though, is there any chance in hell the agency/brand can triumph over last year’s spot? We think not, though at least a cameo from the animated crew could suffice.  Oh well. You can be the judge and the wait for the USA Ad Meter on Monday to see how it fared.

Using the same approach as the Amar’e Stoudemire spot, Park Pictures, Bicoastal/London director Chris Sargent and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, Worldwide go back to the future, so to speak, to a Canadian gym in 1996. Here, a young Steve Nash shoots hoops with a boy claiming to be from the future. The time traveler tries to convince Nash that he’s a future NBA star by listing what would eventually be the Phoenix Suns guard’s accomplishments.
