Samuel L. Jackson Wants You to Get a Motherf***in’ Capital One Quicksilver Card

Last night, DDB Chicago launched a new Capital One campaign for the Quicksilver card, mercifully replacing the Jimmy Fallon Cash Card campaign with something that doesn’t make me want to throw things at my television. Not only that, but they replaced Fallon with the biggest badass on the planet. I speak, of course, of Samuel L. motherfuckin’ Jackson.

Gone is the Jimmy Fallon with a whiny baby approach, replaced by the “You’re going to get a Capital One card because Samuel L. Jackson told you to and when Samuel L. Jackson tells you to do something you don’t fuck around” approach. The spot, “You Can’t Beat It” (also the name of a Catholic anti-masturbation campaign) replaces the schticky formula from the Fallon campaign in favor of a relatively straightforward description of a card that has “no rotating categories,” “no quarterly sign-ups,” and “no games” and offers 1.5% cash back “on every purchase, every damn day.” In other words: no bullshit. Since Samuel L. Jackson is basically the spokesman for not putting up with bullshit, he’s the perfect fit for the new approach.

Does this mean Fallon is gone for good? We can only hope. You know what? Jackson should just go ahead and take over for him on Late Night, too. The world would be a better place. Credits after the jump. Read more

Jack Link’s Sasquatch Takes Revenge One Step Further

When will these jerky Jack Link’s characters ever learn? Just don’t mess around with a mythical creature when he’s hungry, or just in any situation whatsoever. Anyhow, we guess their ignorance has been Carmichael Lynch’s gain over the years as the agency has picked up Effies among other prizes for its ongoing Sasquatch-starring campaign for Jack Link’s. Here, we have yet another set of buffoons who unfortunately decide to have some fun with our hairy protagonist, this time in the form of snakes in a can. As you’d expect, Sasquatch gets his in the most frightening, yet appropriate, of ways in this latest spot, which was directed by MJZ’s Rocky Morton and probably could’ve used the services of Samuel L. Jackson. Credits after the jump.

With the NBA Lockout Looming, This is All We Have

Basically, it comes down to next Monday’s meeting between the NBAPA, the owners and commish David Stern (yes, it seems these meetings are proving to be increasingly useless) to see whether an actual season will happen, so, in the meantime, why don’t you NBA fans and gamers take solace with this spot for NBA2K12 from 72andSunny. Basically, it’s a follow-up to Jordan’s “Kiss my rings, biyatch” spot and asks fans, whether they be celebs like Drake and the dork from Dodgeball or your average joe, to profess what they think is the greatest NBA team ever. What say you, audience? Damn, this impending lockout irks us. Credits after the jump and, thanks to a tipster’s heads up, a Samuel L. Jackson-starring Nike spot that aired during the last NBA lockout in 1998.
