Xbox, twofifteenmccann Fly Interactive Fizzie Balloon at E3

Fizzie, a character in the upcoming game Sunset Overdrive from developer Insomniac Games, made an appearance at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo in the form of a large, interactive balloon flying in the lobby at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 10th – June 12th.

Brought to life by Xbox and twofifteenmccann, Fizzie takes questions from the E3 crowd, offering up invariably sarcastic answers. In Sunset Overdrive, Fizzie “is a talking balloon that hovers over Sunset City and is the cheery face of the Fizzco Corporation while acting as the perfect corporate shill.” So what better place for Fizzie to make an appearance than the largest trade show in the video game industry, rife with event marketers attempting to woo customers and media alike. Check Out Twofifteenmccann’s Cinematic Campaign for Xbox One Exclusive ‘Ryse: Son of Rome’

Twofifteenmccann’s new campaign for Xbox One exclusive “Ryse: Son of Rome” is cinematic in approach and scope.

At the heart of the campaign is the 60 second TV spot “Path of Vengeance” (featured above) which sees the game’s protagonist, Marius, “fight his way from the wilds of the Roman frontier in Brittania, across the Coliseum floor and into the Imperial Palace itself.” In one of the spot’s more interesting touches, the action is accompanied by whispers from Roman citizens spreading his legend. Twofifteen wanted to represent how in ancient Rome “deeds of epic heroism were quickly spread by word of mouth, and the story changed based on who was doing the telling,” which they mimicked with the differing accounts of Marius in the spot. It’s a nice, immersive little detail that’s telling of the overall approach to the campaign.

In addition to the TV spot, Twofifteenmccann, in conjunction with production company Smuggler, created a web series featured on Machinima. Entitled “The Fall,” the series features four, five-minute mini-epics detailing Marius’ backstory, history and motives. The agency claims that each installment is a “mini epic film unto itself.” While that may be overstating a point, this is a very large-scale approach to market the game, and “The Fall” is a solid accomplishment in its own right. It also succeeds quite well at making the game look badass, with what appears to be a pretty compelling story. Microsoft Advertising, twofifteenmccann Talk to Unlikely Visionaries

Tapping into kids’ insight is no new tactic, but who can fault an agency for once again asking wide-eyed young “visionaries” to inspire the future? Kids are so charmingly stuttering, so clearly genuine, that they bring a persuasive power to any cause. San Francisco’s twofifteenmccann’s latest work for Microsoft Advertising is no exception.

The agency debuted this film at Cannes last week. Backed by uplifting piano notes, a handful of children talk about their visions for technological innovation, including smart refrigerators (“…Pizza! It’d be like, ‘whooosh!’”) and virtual dressing rooms (for ninja outfits in particular). As each child recounts their vision, an animated prototype of the technology floats next to them.

As hopeful as this ad is, there inevitably comes a point when kids stop thinking quite so big, and instead adopt trademark adult cynicism. Let’s hope Microsoft Advertising really can activate child-like wonder and imagination as they do their work. Many of these kids’ ideas are already on their way—what will they (adults and children) think of next?

XBOX Kinect Envisions the Future

Will 2011 be remembered as the “Year of the Great Video Game Spot?” When it debuted last month, it really didn’t look like Deutsch LA’s “Michael” ad for PlayStation 3 would have any challengers for the most memorable spot of the year. That is, of course, until XBOX and agency twofifteenmccann released the above jaw-dropping commercial, “The Kinect Effect.”

As the VO says, XBOX thought turning voice and movement into “magic” via Kinect technology “would be fun. And it was.” Hey, if you’ve ever had the opportunity to play one of XBOX’s sports titles for Kinect, there’s little argument you can make against this statement. But, then we see the same technology used for spiking a virtual volleyball in your opponents’ face used for education, surgery, and disposing of hazardous waste. Add to that a great orchestral cover of the Pixies’ “Where is My Mind?” (probably best known to many as the song that plays during the end of Fight Club), and at the end of the spots’ 77-second run time, all a viewer can muster in response is an awestruck is, to quote lauded thespian Joey Lawrence, “Whoa.”

XBOX portrays Kinect as an idea that can affect a target demo who isn’t clamoring for the next Halo installment. It’s quite a bold statement, and one that we don’t see competitors Sony and Nintendo making with their own gaming platforms. Calling it “visionary” is an understatement, as in “The Kinect Effect,” we see video games change the world. Credits after the jump.

Agencytwofifteen Rebrands, Takes Global Lead on HP PSG Biz for McCann

The agency once known as T.A.G., which then rebranded as agencytwofifteen just over a year ago, has once again undergone another name change and will now be known as Twofifteen McCann, which obviously looks like a tribute to both its street address in San Francisco and McCann Worldgroup ties.

With the rebrand also comes the news that Twofifteen McCann will take on global creative leadership for HP within McCann Erickson (don’t worry, Goodby still has HP on its client roster). The 215 will still be serving the global Xbox account in partnership with McCann and will be led by  Mike Parsons (MD), Mike Harris (CSO) and Scott Duchon (CCO).

Christopher Nolan Never Dreamed of This

The agency formerly known as T.A.G., agencytwofifteen, was asked to come up with a marketing program for pharma brand Help Remedies and here’s one of the end results. One of nine–yes, nine–spots were delivered for the “help I can’t sleep” campaign and the San Francisco-based shop honed in right on dreams (cue Inception music). Actually, these look more like fever dreams (but they’re still more linear than mine) but nonetheless, the 2-1-5 worked alongside Tool of North America and the Lifelong Friendship Society to showcase the nocturnal imaginations of everything from puppies to milkmaids.

Along with the spots (three more after the jump), agencytwofifteen developed a dream recommendation website and  worked with SF/Sweden-based interactive prodco We Are Licious to develop a dream recommendation app that will “record” a person’s dream and post them to Facebook, Twitter, etc. What is the target market, you ask? From our vantage point, it appears to be travelers, business types, insomniacs, etc. as the adverts will be shown on demand in hotels, in-flight, in 24-hour drugstores, on late-night TV, online, on a mobile website and on Duane Reade’s screens in New York’s Union Square.

Agencytwofifteen, Psyop Incite a ‘Revolution’

Fable III is officially here for Xbox 360 (like you haven’t been waiting) and here’s agencytwofifteen’s new campaign for the brand, dubbed “It’s a Revolution”, which is sure to get players highly enticed to go out and purchase the third edition in the franchise.

This spot, created by the aforementioned San Fran-based shop along with VFX gurus Psyop, is set in the fictional Albion, uses real game assets and is depicted through a series of richly detailed, cinematic, slo-mo moments, telling the story of the fall of a tyrant and the rise of a new leader.

The visuals are stunning and are sure to entrance and entertain the target audience for 60 seconds of their lives. For others, not so much. If you’re within the TA, then you’re goods-if not you’ll probably shrug with indifference. Sometimes your just stuck with a double edged sword. View credits after the jump.
